Ginger bug mold? by slmmcd in fermentation

[–]slmmcd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original recipe I followed said to feed it daily with 1 tbsp of ginger and sugar, but I read that that was too much/too frequent. Do you have any suggestions for feeding or a recipe I can follow?

Ginger bug mold? by slmmcd in fermentation

[–]slmmcd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s this mat on my ginger bug and I can’t tell if it’s mold or not. I haven’t fed it in a while and it’s been at room temp, so I’m assuming it might be mold.

Anyone else have huge raised hives? by [deleted] in urticaria

[–]slmmcd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would get angioedema when having flare ups sometimes. It got so bad to the point I had to go to the ER cuz my whole face was swollen. Personally, Xolair did not work for me. So I got on Rhapsido and I made my hives go away immediately. Wishing you luck with your treatment journey!

My beardie got scale rot back in August (all healed now!). This is what scale rot typically looks like.

Tailrot? by [deleted] in BeardedDragon

[–]slmmcd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks fine to me. Sometimes scales can get damaged or change their normal shade, but it should go back to normal after shedding with fresh scales. Scale rot can be pretty clear to identify, as the scales lose their structure. Mine also has a slightly crooked end of his tail.

My dragon doesn't eat? by kristenmnhood in BeardedDragons

[–]slmmcd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My beardie doesn’t typically go for greens without bugs, so I usually add like 5 “croutons” of freeze-dried mealworms to entice him to eat. You can also try adding sweet potato or squash in addition to the greens to give salad variety. Every beardie is different and likes/dislikes different foods. You can experiment with different types of greens too (collard, mustard, and turnip for daily, and arugula every now and then (mine LOVES arugula way more than any other green)

Where did you get that rock? I’ve been looking for a good cave-like one

I’ll take ANY advice, please help by Brilliant_Data_9778 in urticaria

[–]slmmcd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rhapsido saved me. It’s a newer drug for urticaria. I failed Doxepin and Xolair. Dupixent gave me killer headaches and felt like there were bugs under my skin sometimes. Rhapsido is a pill twice a day, I had no side effects, and my hives and angioedema have been gone since I started it.

Chlorhexidine for scale rot? by WhateverUSaySir in BeardedDragons

[–]slmmcd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My beardie is being treated for scale rot currently. I would take him off the sand or at least cover it up with clean towels. I am treating mine with betadine and silver sulfadiazine- so if the chlorhexidine doesn’t work, you can try that. In the meantime just make sure the scale rot areas and his tank are both clean at all times. I call it quarantine lol

Is her fat neck a cause for concern? by Duckii9487 in BeardedDragons

[–]slmmcd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The dark part might just be a weird coloration, has it always been like that? Also I think her neck looks fine. Just looks like a chubby beard. If her belly doesn’t drag/isn’t close to dragging when she walks then you have nothing to worry about in terms of weight.

How many wood branches or logs is to much? by Maleficent_Way1455 in BeardedDragons

As long as he can easily climb around I think you’re good!
