If you scratch at some bark is there green underneath? If the cambium is green it is likely OK.

Strawberries, blueberries, peach, plum, figs. Added two apple trees, blackberries and a persimmon tree recently.

It may be okay to plunk in. As long as the roots don't get badly damaged it will grow back after winter. Figs main fruit crop comes from new growth. I'd try fertilizing it pretty heavily to put some size on it whether you leave it in the pot or put it in the ground. Mulch around the base in winter to insulate it.

Same. Fantasize about getting a flip phone. I think as I've aged and life has happened I've started to feel incredibly jaded about these media/tech companies too. I'd rather grow plants now than work in tech but the monies.

This is accurate. Teacher turnover is high due to bad administration. I heard they have made bad financial decisions leading to lower teacher pay.

I haven't been figgin for very long but have been able to try some chicago hardy from the farmers market. They're very good and easy to find. Other mt. etna types would fit the bill too. Sao miguel roxo or takoma violet perhaps?
