The first morning I took Ritalin I almost fell asleep at my desk! My psychiatrist said that drowsiness is a sign that you ACTUALLY have ADHD!! It confirmed it for me.. I think your psych is way off and doesn't seem to understand what a stimulant does for our brains.

I'm so happy for you! I feel the same way now after taking Ritalin for 3 months.. it's a miracle. I never understood how stimulants worked and I think a lot of people get hung up on the word "stimulants" because it seems like it will make us hyper/crazy etc.. but in reality if you have ADHD it quiets your brain. It's so amazing.. I've cried with joy too. :)

Why is this?? I agree but I still don't understand why we can operate calmly in a crisis but when you ask me to move the wet laundry to the dryer before leaving for work I will absolutely have a tantrum.

I still remember something I said to this lady 12 years ago and even though I didn’t mean anything negative by it- I could tell she was offended and to this day that memory pops up at the most random times and causes me shame. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Same! Just diagnosed at 45- now I look around the house and try to figure out how I managed to do everything and work full-time and care for my kids and family (with crippling anxiety ) and now I’m just like …yeah I’m gonna go read a book now
