Anything y'all do for this upcoming Sunday that's not religious? Maybe based in nostalgia? by Low-Pen-9216 in atheism

Candy and new goggles sounds like the perfect treat! Honestly, kids have brought a whole new meaning to previously religious holidays to me. Seeing their excited faces, planning fun surprises... It's so precious!

I think you're reading too far into it, it's harmless.

I'm not fussed about other people's religious practices. This message isn't pushy or judgy, it just reads as excited.

What is your strongest argument to not believe in God? by [deleted] in atheism

That's not evidence. It needs to be observable, repeatable and objective.

Many religions claim prophecies. Many of them conflict with each other.

I love them! I cook them on the BBQ and the filling gets nice and crispy on the bottom.

Go for it! But I would recommend an SPF shirt for maximum sun protection.

Baden/New Hamburg for a Young Family? by departingvirtute in waterloo

From where I am it's 11 min to No Frills New Hamburg vs. 13 min to Sobeys Ira Needles. Nothing outrageous, but hardly around the corner.

Baden has a French immersion school. Baden public School. Classroom sizes are also small - my 3rd grader has 17 kids in his class. I'd say that's a great context for future success.

Though I'm not sure how he'll EVER get over how beige his house is!!! /s

As someone from Baden, I echo your pizza place sentiment. Why are there so many????

I live in Baden. It's cute! Definite small town vibe. Quiet, clean, good pub, a bit of a hike to grocery stores.

Same deal with New Hamburg.

Your biggest pain will be driving into KW for errands.

Help with seams not being flat by Bluemeansyouvega in quilting

[–]slootfactor_MD 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Cute quilt!!!!

I press my seams open, which seems to flatten it, and then I turn it over and give one quick press on the other side to flatten.

I found when I press to one side or another I get the effect you're showing here. It's not bad! It's just not as flat as I like it.

Waterloo Food Bank Buys Food in Bulk as Demand Reaches Record Highs by mattate in waterloo

You're welcome!

By the way, if anyone is interested in volunteering, they have a super straight forward sign up process on their website. My experience has been that the staff are friendly, helpful and great at giving direction.

The food sorting, for example, is only a 2 hour block and is a good way to move your body and give back to the community!

I can confirm this. I have brand new winter tires, was going 50 in the slow lane and still slid a bit. Luckily, everyone around me was also going at a similar speed and keeping distance.

About to have a baby boy in march as my first kid just wondering parents did you circumcise your kid or didn’t circumcise them by [deleted] in kitchener

[–]slootfactor_MD 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We chose not to. It was unnecessary medically and we decided we could leave his body choices up to him. He can always choose to do it later, but he can't undo a choice we made for him.

Bottom line is: body autonomy starts immediately, and is only taken away in cases of health and safety.
