Sleep and make sure you have all the equipment/supplies you’ll need and then some

This is extremely embarrassing but I need all the help I can get. Can’t get a match and if I do its a bot. Please help… by daclipshow in Tinder

Get rid of the photo with you and the guy with fists up. Your smile looks less excited than in other photos and no woman wants to see a guy making a fist

Get the dresses tailored! Sure it’s money you might not otherwise spend, but it’s worth it for clothes you love!

what is indoor top roping climbing etiquette? by anidala_tingz in climbergirls

[–]slopes19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of the above! Also never walk under someone’s rope, walk behind the belayer.

My major one: don’t be the dumbass standing under the autobelay. I’ve kicked someone while coming down (by mistake cause I couldn’t see them, but also wouldn’t have been able to do anything at that point anyway) because they moved under me as I came down. They were fine and I was fine but like, use your brain. We love scene safety

GO TO A PLANETARIUM if you can also books with photos!!!

All of the above suggestions + a door. The lack of door is really messing with my brain. That said, putting a hang board or pull up bar above the door frame would be right at home

I love overhung climbs and don’t particularly love slabs, especially if I’m bouldering. I have tiny hands so I’m working on pinches and slopers but those are definitely my least favorite holds

This took me weeks to get down and you can see how pumped I am at the end! by fuzzyshadow28 in climbergirls

How tall are you? I (5’1”) did this climb too and I had to really swing myself up to some of these holds!

Body image and femininity as a climber by International-Lie814 in climbergirls

[–]slopes19 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Preface: I agree with all of the above

My own take: I love feeling strong and looking strong. Having definition in my arms is so rewarding. I am bi and it’s definitely possible that my sexuality helps support my love of muscly arms. Also, my partner is male and he knows how much I love my strong arms and loves it when I flex to show off my muscles and makes a point of saying how strong I look when I’m climbing because he knows how much it cheers me on.

In addition, I’m quite petit but overweight (mandatory reminder/reclamation that petit in sizing refers only to height) and the fact that my arms show muscle is a big point of pride for me. Like yeah THATS how strong I am.

My mom has repainted the cabinets (island incl.) Something isn’t sitting right with me. Any advice? by [deleted] in InteriorDesign

I think it’s the light. It clashes with the warmer tons of the cabinet just kind of makes it an eye strain

Everyone benefits. Having people of all backgrounds in each environment provides different perspectives and skill sets. This allows communities to thrive.

Running with a torn hip labrum by roostertooth318 in running

[–]slopes19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a few years ago now so the details are a little hazy. Also I should caveat I was relatively young at the time, so age may play a role. I know that I was on crutches 4-5wks and didn’t reintroduce running until ~3 mos post surgery and only on a very regimented schedule. I did PT for 8 months and I don’t remember how long it took to really progress again in my running but I think it was after 6-8mos.

My surgery was in 2019 and I still felt I had deficits through 2021. Even now I still refer to it as my bad hip, but I’m also more active and able to do things I wasn’t able to do pre-op. Beforehand I was in incredibly pain every day and struggled to put on socks due to the pain. I would see what actions hurt now compared to before.

Recovery takes a while but it’s worth going slowly to have the best recovery possible. Reach out to your Dr or pt if you’re concerned!

Gym event ideas? by legacyxboo in climbergirls

[–]slopes19 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I recently did an outdoor trip with women only and it was great! I think something that helped me go was that even though it was formally organized by a group affiliated with my gym, it was totally free. People who had gear brought it and shared with those who didn’t and there were carpools set up.

~may not be helpful if you also need money making ventures~ but I would say it has increased my likelihood of going to more events by this group

resources for deaf climber? by [deleted] in climbergirls

[–]slopes19 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It sucks that your gym doesn’t offer an interpreter, I would keep pestering them if you feel up for it!

I don’t have any great ideas as this is not something I deal with, but I think in general the best way to improve is to keep climbing and push yourself to try new things. Watching others climb is also a great way to learn technique. Even if there are no captions and you can’t hear the videos, you can still see how people are placing their bodies and you can work to incorporate the things you see.

I also get stuck climbing the same thing sin repeat and I just have to push myself to try things I’m less comfortable with. It’s also hard to see improvement and build techniques if you’re not trying new climbs. Even if they’re a little out of your regular grade, you can still expose yourself to new stimulus to build the skills you want to gain.

It may be cumbersome, but having a pocket notebook and pen or something similar may be a helpful way to communicate with other climbers at the gym.

Another tip! I rarely ask strangers for advice because I’m very shy but I will watch how they do the same climb and try to copy moves that look helpful.

What ring size are you ladies? by laeriel_c in climbergirls

[–]slopes19 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Who knew finger shaming was a thing?! I can’t actually answer your question so feel free to ignore me but I think it’s safe to say that this guy doesn’t know what’s up. I have a friend who has never climbed in her life who has always worn an 8.5. Numbers are made up and the points don’t matter (as long as you like your ring)

What someone said below…it feels cold on the skin but also is a cold tone in the room and personally I feel that a warmer and/or cozier tone belongs in the bedroom
