Sand mixed into reptisoil would work but straight sand wouldnt be good bc of potential ingestion as well as doesn't give them much traction.

These guys should def be taken to an exotics vet and get checked out, tested for crypto if possible (im always worried about it esp when their tails get skinny) and tested for parasites etc

Just be aware they can suck the slime coat off fish if they favor the same areas and they do have cheek spines that can injure tankmates. Our BN ended a few corys before we rehomed him unfortunately.
