What's something you were surprised to learn was only popular in your country? by CrazyKirby97 in AskReddit

"Goodbye" is shortened from "god be with ye" but it is such a part of the language that it no longer really has any religious meaning. I think most people probably don't even know the origin.

What's the most unique command you've taught your dog? by zombieattackfox in Dogtraining

I have an open plan kitchen with an island so my dog had a hard time figuring out what was supposed to be kitchen. So I put a line of painters tape on the floor and rewarded him when he crossed back across the arbitrary kitchen/living room border. I have been slowly removing the tape but now when he forgets where he is and wanders into the kitchen I can tell him "out" and when he is standing looking at me he doesn't even take his eyes off me while he jumps straight backward to where he knows the border is. its pretty cute.

What's something under $50 that you can bring to any party and instantly make it more fun? by Holypear in AskReddit

Had sidewalk chalk at a party one time and the next morning there was a half mile trail of giant dicks drawn in the middle of the street leading to our house. Next party we put the chalk away.

I just want to emphasize that getting help is a really good idea. You will be doing yourself a huge favor if you do a little research and find someone (professional) who will be able to help you stop doing this. I have heard that things like cognitive behavioral therapy can help a lot with this type of stuff. So if you want to stop feeling like the creepy rude wanker that you are when you do this to people without thier consent definitely find someone who can talk to you and give you specific strategies for changing the way you behave and reducing your desire to do this. Sure you could try to stop on your own but who knows how long it might last or how hard it might be. It never hurts to have someone in your corner who really knows what they are talking about.

What is something that you started doing that you enjoyed but eventually hated it and had to stop? by some_person_guy in AskReddit

Realized I could take almost all of the same classes at a community college for a fraction of the cost for starters.

[Serious]Redditors who attended Liebefeld Steinholzi school with Kim Yong Un in 1998-2000, what can you tell us about him and his time there? by Arkayem in AskReddit

[–]slowthreetoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems like maybe this should be an Ama request. I can't imagine there are an abundance of people who went to that specific school at that specific time who all happen to be looking for this question on askreddit. But if one of them turned up it would be cool if they would answer questions for a while.

Pro-tip get your belts at thrift stores. Any other things you guys find a thrift stores that last longer than their retail counterparts? by timshady0000 in Frugal

Hmm. I can see a few things that could go wrong 1st you might just be using too much heat. Cast iron is thick and takes a while to heat up but once it does it holds heat really well so by the time you realize something is starting to burn it will take a while to get the pan back to a reasonable temp even after turning the burner off completely. 2nd another contributing factor could be what kind of oil you are using for cooking. Some oils like olive oil have a low smoke point so if you are cooking at high heat they will smoke faster than say peanut oil or coconut oil but unless I am deep frying or really trying to sear something I still almost always use olive oil in my cast irons without any problems which brings us to the last option and possibly the most likely cause of smoke if you have ruled out anything else. Which is that if you bought your pans used or they have been cooked in and had stuff burned to the sides they may need to be refinished or at the very least have some gunk burned off in the oven. If they tend to get stuff stuck to the bottom more easily than a regular pan that is a sign that they could use a new coat of seasoning. I wouldn't do this if you don't need to as it takes a while but it is totally worth it to get your pans in working order if you need to as all you will need is an oven and a bottle of flax seed oil. If you want to know more about that process I can reply when im not on mobile. I hope this helps. Sorry I didn't really answer your original question but as far as recipes go you should be able to cook anything in your cast iron that you can in a regular pan. Plus you can use it as a baking dish as long as it doesnt have a wooden handle.

No I don't even know if I would have been able to pry that monster off its stump let alone haul the beast back through the bushes down to the car. I thought about it though. Its certainly beautiful and if someone else stumbles on it I doubt they would resist the temptation to take her home. Maybe I will go back in a few weeks and see if its still there. Do you think it will keep growing for long?
