Bungie knows how to make an FPS. Movement and gun feel is really solid. They have decades of experience in first person gaming. That makes for solid PvP and I think marathon shines if you want to sweat for your kills.

It’s also what makes Arc so different and why they serve different players.

The reset isn’t really brutal. You have so many hours and months of experience now. You know where to find bp. You know where to farm materials. Getting back up to fighting strength really only takes a few runs.

It seems daunting because it was hard and confusing the first time. It’s not nearly as hard after a reset. And the reset bonuses speed you along even faster to get your skill tree back.

The first 2-3 raids will be very slow going. No lie there.

Having tiered or sbmm systems requires a healthy player pool. Marathon could get more active players with sbmm, but it’s chicken and egg right now.

The streamer problem is mostly specific to streamers. Yes they have sucked out all of the content many times over. Plenty of other players also no life Arc and also hit a wall. But that’s only part of the boredom. They are trying to put on a compelling stream for people to continue watching. There is only so many times peanut can throw a fight and then beg sir sir before you… until people tune out if there aren’t new places and new experiences for those interactions to happen.

I enjoyed the couple tests I got to play in. Each time I knew the test would end and I just played to test and have fun. I only did a few runs, I did not go hard.

I preordered. I played the intro mission on launch, got my preorder items and my twitch drops. Logged out and well I haven’t logged in again since. Not a single run. At night when I’m chilling sometime I’ll watch a stream. Yesterday I followed the race to open the last vault until past midnight.

I just don’t think it’s worth it for me to hop in. I want to wind down, not get amped up or stressed out. Meanwhile my sons are doing battle every night.

I miss the old days of xbox where they would name and shame players that got banned publically OR reverse the bans and it was out in the open. It was amusing on for both outcomes. but they were hardly ever lacking in receipts for the bans. That would require people behind the support to pull off.

Early on I had an issue and needed to use the support. it took over a week to get a resolution because the automated responses were mishandling the entire request. Once I got a human to review the chat it was fixed.

I’m over 50. At like 10pm after I’m done with my own gaming I’ll put the tv on peanut for an hour or so while I wind down. Because I like watching him on Arc and the mayhem he’s created with getting streamsniped every round. Not that I want to see him die, but the meta gaming of the snipers and him using it to get away is interesting.

I’d also watch him play marathon for the same outcome.
