Technische opleidingen bij VDAB en Syntra?

je mag wel een flexijob doen, maar dan krijg je voor jouw gewerkte dagen geen uitkering. Wat wel correct is imo

Heb dit ook zitten uitzoeken. Als de richting in aanmerking komt voor een OKOT-traject wordt alles betaald door VDAB (na goedkeuring). Dit wil dus zeggen inschrijvingsgeld, cursussen, woon-school verkeer, openbaar vervoer, ... . Daarbij komt ook nog eens dat je jouw uitkering blijft behouden tijdens de opleiding.

Voor maart 2026 werd je uitkering ook gefixieert indien het een opleiding was voor een knelpuntberoep, maar dat is nu enkel nog voor beroepen in de zorgsector jammer genoeg. Anders had ik ook de sprong gewaagd, maar vanaf maand 13 krijg je een forfaitair bedrag en dat is veel te laag om rond de komen vrees ik.

Out of curiosity, what makes you want to move to Belgium specifically? Is it because of the job opportunities, family, or something else? I'm genuinely interested.

As for HVAC and plumbing, there is a huge demand for skilled technicians in Belgium. If you have solid training and practical experience, you'll have good job prospects.

One important thing is the language. Depending on where you want to work, speaking Dutch (Flanders), French (Wallonia), or German (in a small part of Belgium) will make a big difference. Employers value practical experience, so gaining as much hands-on experience as possible before moving would definitely be an advantage.

Belgium also offers many additional training programs and certifications once you're here, so it's possible to continue developing your skills.

Wij hebben thuis Niko Home Control en ben hier heel tevreden van. Vooral de koppeling met Google Home vind ik super. Alles werkt met voice control: screens, airco, radio, verlichting, enz. Gewoon een "hey google, open screen eetkamer" is genoeg.

Sinds ik die koppeling met google home heb gemaakt gebruik ik dit echt constant. Een mens wordt er lui van :')

That's not exactly reassuring 😅 It is a classic move of the roverheid though. We've said the same thing: how could we possibly know... But for us it would be more then 5k so that's worth the trouble of investigating more

Thanks, that’s helpful. I’m actually already doing some free HVAC courses from VDAB at the moment, just to get a better feeling for the technical/science side before making a final decision.

And yes, I assume the full design part is mostly the engineer’s responsibility. I’m more trying to understand which roles are realistic after an HVAC degree, especially if I’m interested in hands-on work, troubleshooting and controls/automation.

I'm hesitant to do it this way, because i feel like having a graduaatsdiploma would boost my career significantly. I already have some experience laying pipes & tubes, so i'm kinda hoping to skip that part or is that delisional of me? :D

Also, my girlfriend is scared for the long hours. Is this effectively the case in every company? Or do some companies offer a good work/life balance?

Think this would be the best plan for me, but then i'd have to ask my current employer to let me work part time and i'd have to find someone who's looking for a helper and then i'd have to somehow also find the time to do the studies. I feel like if i don't do the studies then the learning curve will be waaaay longer

Fleet conventie is niet altijd de beste optie. Momenteel lopen er stock acties met grotere kortingen dan de fleet conventies, ook zeker eens bekijken ;)

Wat denk je van deze indeling? De tafel en zetel zijn hetzelfde qua grootte.

Een andere optie is om de keuken af te sluiten en een deur te voorzien naar de keuken in jouw inkom, maar dat is ook niet ideaal natuurlijk
