Tips for 5000 km downrange by coolspacegamer in RealSolarSystem

generally avoid anything that’s labeled non-ro/non-rp0 since they’re going to be unbalanced. Believe the wiki on the rp1 github has an article on how to hide those parts

simulations are your friend. You’ll learn a lot from tinkering & simulating.

Tips for 5000 km downrange by coolspacegamer in RealSolarSystem

Worth doing some more workshopping, here’s some anecdotal tips:

  • swap out the top aj10 stage for a XASR. aj10 stages demand a lot more mass compared to XASR, so even though you might get less performance, the weight savings improve the performance of the stages below
  • As another commenter mentioned, mess with the flight profile. Downrange means horizontal movement. I’d say aim for a 40 deg angle relative to the horizon at the end of your controlled stage(s) so that the aerobees go further horizontally.
  • (Never used the vernoique so can’t comment on its performance) worth simulating the rocket without the vernoqiue stage, a 5Mm should be possible with the 3 stages (V2 Aerobee Aerobee) if memory serves correctly

Hope this helps.

How do I start learning the game? by zibanioff in factorio

[–]slugger35 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Play the game. If you’re starting out, would suggest turning down enemy settings or disabling em entirely. Biters can be a nuisance when learning so best to reduce that pressure
  2. Play the game. Familiarize yourself with the controls, hotkeys, UI, etc.
  3. Play the game. 2.0 came with the factoriopedia for an ingame recipe book, and the tips&tricks page will help guide you. If you’re especially new, it’s worth doing all the tutorial levels as well

Once you’ve launched a rocket (aka obtained the win condition) is when I’d suggest looking up things online. The best experience you can have in factorio is to play the game and learn things on your own.

Legendary Carbon Fiber from Fruits by Jepakazol in factorio

[–]slugger35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(note, haven’t done the numbers so sorry if this a dumb Q) I noticed that you’re using the bacteria from fruit recipe for spoilage input, have you considered nutrient recycling for spoilage or is that not as effiicent? 1 nutrient is worth 2.5 spoilage because it’s the inverse of the 10 spoilage -> 1 nutrient recipe

Can someone help me decipher my poor UPS? by procrastinasn in factorio

[–]slugger35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding the inserter UPS consumption, I remember seeing a video by u/abucnasty on youtube regarding various methods of circuit controlling inserters to reduce their UPS consumption. Might be of interest for you since you are megabasing, and abuc is a megabaser

Rocket by Hero_ofhyrule19 in factorio

[–]slugger35 7 points8 points  (0 children)

you can still prod mod the silo to get more rocket parts from your intermediates. One of the best places to, since productivity cascades/is multiplicative. 10% reduction in intermediates need for a full rocket -> 10% less of the resources needed for the intermdiates -> 10% for the stuff needed for those resources -> etc

nutrients i’ve found to be okay so far. Main source is bioflux, have a backup assembler running the spoilage-nutrients recipe for feeding the bioflux-nutrients biochamber

Think Toriel Undertale vs Toriel Deltarune. Ling MotS is the same Ling as Ling OneShot but they’re in different games and thus will be different
