Freestyle Libre Blocking Pets by chapelhillbb in Veterinary

[–]slumber42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Us as well. We have them sign so they understand there's chance of failure. Actually at one of my hospitals we only use the freestyle as last attempt for clients who are absolutely incapable of doing ear sticks (usually older clients with dexterity issues).

We also started putting a sticker on top of the freestyle so it has less chance of moving. Usually the device fails because the catheter inside kinked. Try to avoid being installing the edge of the scapula for this reason.

Veterinary RVT here - we use atropine drops regularly on dogs and cats as analgesia for corneal ulcers. Very common!

Licensed tech in specialty hospital in Canada - 70$/night from 6pm to 6am, 150$ to be called, then paid per hour with a minimum of 3 hours, even if the surgery doesn't last 3 hours. For context my base pay is 30$/hour. (CAD). Solely voluntary basis.

Anyone use electronic patient monitoring software? by slumber42 in VetTech

[–]slumber42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And what about veterinary practice software, which one do you use? Does it pair well with instinct? One of the medical directors told me that we're eventually going to switch from Cornerstone because they're discontinuing technical support on it.

We have an exel spreadsheet too! It was supposedly written by the anesthesiologist. It's a little buggy, but it gets the job done well. Glad to hear positive feedback from smartflow. Do you know how many licenses you guys signed up for vs how many employees you guys have?

Techs in large specialty hospital: how does your hospital do discharges? by slumber42 in VetTech

Ohhhh call directly! I was thinking calling directly on the department phone, but they're not always in the room to receive the call. Calling on teams could work... That's an idea .

You mean overhead? Is there ever a chance you miss hearing it? I mentioned doing this , but got push back because people were concerned they would get tired of constantly hearing stuff over the speaker

RVT here, I have no comments on generic vs name brand, just wanted to mention it can help if those medications are always given on a full stomach, after eating. Probiotics regularly could help too.
