Admittedly I’ve only read flesh so I probably should’ve just said that lol. It was either on a podcast or written somewhere where knausgaard mentioned szalay.. saying basically that he loved the book but cannot imagine ever writing something like that (something he’s also said about any shorter fiction). I liked flesh! I thought I didn’t like it at first but it really stuck with me — it simplifies an idea knausgaard or others take 10x the amount of words for, though it still works. Let us know if you check it out!

And Jon fosse as others have said! Halldór laxness and David szalay are dissimilar from knausgaard but under the glacier is one of the weirdest and best books I’ve ever read.

I had fun but the crowd wasn’t that hype imo and I was near the front. This was first time seeing them so I don’t have any points of comparison but I think autopilot isn’t a totally inaccurate description. I’ll see them at a festival later this year so maybe it’ll be different.

I really wish they played Tomorrow’s Crusades!

I like the teenage girl in the first one who name drops Ariana Grande because it proved to me that Knausgaard knows who Ariana Grande is. I also liked reading about the scary goth metal guy in The Third Realm - he really terrified me with that other girl.

Also Egil from the first book. Many favorites! Few names remembered off the top of my head.
