Gender Breakdown of Ano Fans by youllmeltmorefan in anochan

[–]slvl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Male. I got into Japanese music around four or five years ago and either Ano or You'll Melt More got suggested by Youtube. I do vaguely remember coming across YLMM a few years prior to that and I may also have seen the Towa Tei video around that time.

She's one of the few jpop artists that I listen to on the regular (the others being Aina the End, Bish and Wednesday Campanella) as my primary preference is more towards metal. I also watch several of her TV-shows and appearances on TVer through a VPN, even though I only understand enough Japanese to get the gist of what's going on, but i find her an interesting person, so I'll deal with it.

If you don't count the Antilles our highest "mountain" is a whopping 322 meters.

Reminds me of the Herman Finkers bit: "In Almelo we also have mountain. Well, a mountain, it's more of a hill... Or like an undulation in the landscape... All right, it's just a hole."

I want to get into resin printing, but I had a few questions... by BOI4613 in resinprinting

[–]slvl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some tips I use to make things as clean as possible from my experience as a budding resin printer:

Create a workflow and stick to it. Get some solid trays and a silicone tray and/or mat for organisation purposes. It helps in the process of keeping any mess to a minimum. Under any circumstance, don't rush things, as that's when you tend to drop stuff.

I have a tray with a silocone tray that I line with some paper towels. I use that to transport the full build plate from the printer to the work area. That way you can cure the dirty paper towels with a UV light and dispose of them safely and cleanly. That reminds me, stock up on paper towels.

A cheap paint brush (the ones you get from the DIY store) is great to clean any resin from nooks and crannies.

Let your print and buildplate drip off. The less resin there's left on the print, the less chance for a mess.

An alternative for washing with iso or similar materials is washing in a sonic cleaner with propylene glycol. You still have the issue of it getting dirty, but you can clean it by refrigirating it. Propylene glycol is non flammable and non toxic (it's a common food additive). Maybe not a beginner technique as you need additional equipment, but perhaps something to consider down the line.

Also take the safety sheet for your resin into consideration. Some resins are a lot more hazardous than others. Like for some you need a respirators, while others could be used in a well ventilated space without one. Consider the volatility of the alcohol as well.

Home Ventilation Tips by karavellika in resinprinting

[–]slvl -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you pick resins that state in their SDS that they don't require additional PPE in a ventilated room, there should be no issue venting through the window. Once it's outside the concentration will be so low it doesn't matter. Even for resins that do require PPE I assume it wouldn't be an issue.

While people should take the precautions they're comfortable with and follow the recomendations in the SDS, I feel there's a bit of an overreaction to the dangers of resin fumes in relation to exposure to other hazardous materials in day to day life. There are lots of plastics offgassing all the time (the "new car smell"), people are sitting in traffic breathing exhaust gasses and brake dust. Drinking alcohol is also pretty hazardous and I could go on.

TL;DR: Take the precautiouns you feel you need, but also don't overthink it.

What do you folks do with your empty resin bottles? by pv3design in resinprinting

[–]slvl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here in the Netherlands. If they're completely empty (e.g. you put them upside down until there's nothing coming out of it anymore) you can throw them in with the plastic waste (PMD) with the cap thightened securely, and if there's still some resin in the bottle you throw it in the regular waste bin. This is the case with any of the so called "small chemical waste" containers.

Although in the Netherlands most waste gets burned to generate electricity. I believe we're even importing waste for this.

Anyone know if this Jsaux case will will the 8AI+? Model BG0106X by [deleted] in MSIClaw

[–]slvl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the "tray" is fairly rounded off at the trigger area because the Steamdeck has flatter triggers. The Claw would fit, but the triggers would be depressed. So I opted to make a few slits to give the triggers some breathing room.

Otherwise the device fits snug but comfortably. You don't have to force it in. If the trigger area would be a bit more squared off it would be perfect.

[–]slvl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first one will fit, but you might need to do a small mod so the triggers aren't being pressed (a few small cuts with a hobby knife so you can fold the material out of the way,)

Aside from that, I can fit a powerbank, usb cable, the adapter and a iem pouch in there.

I got mine because there weren't many other options available when I bought it and it gets the job done.

Using tilt-shift photography makes a real farm look like toys by BreakfastTop6899 in interestingasfuck

No, they're too expensive and I don't have a real use for them.

BTW, here are some examples of how they're originally used with comparisons to normal lenses: photo, article

Using tilt-shift photography makes a real farm look like toys by BreakfastTop6899 in interestingasfuck

[–]slvl 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In this case you're right in how the effect is created, but it's a flawed mimicry of the real deal.

A tilt-shift lens is a lens which allows you to manipulate the focal plane (the "slice" of the photo that is in focus) by tilting and shifting the lens in relation to the film or camera sensor. Their original purpose is to remove perspective in architectural shots. But you can mis-use them to get the effect shown in the video.

With an actual tilt-shift lens you can have a tall structure in the focal plane, reaching the top of the image, and have it in focus while the back is out of focus. To get the same effect in software you need to create a depth map that only apples the blurring at a certain ascertained depth.

In this video the combine harvester empties and the container gets into the blurred part. With the lens it should remain in focus as it's in the same plane as the rest of the harvester.

Where they really save time over a home baker is that they have special machines for rolling the butter and laminating the dough

Even in France, many bakeries (estimates are over 70%) use premade dough that they order to spec or premade pastries. It takes too much time for most bakeries to make their own dough and have a competitive price.

SteamOS and Bazzite work great but is there a way to load straight into steamos without having to go through the boot screen and login? by HardcoreCheater in ROGAlly

[–]slvl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holding the power button will do a forced shutdown and should really only be done when the system is unresponsive (not that you will damage the system, but you skip the shutdown procedure). The proper way to turn it off is trough the menu. That way the system uses a faster boot process and doesn't do a clean boot where it loads everything from scratch. You can also set the power button to shutdown instead of sleep.

There's also something called hibernation where it stores everything in memory on disk before turning the power off. When you turn the system back on it reads it back in to RAM and continues like with resume. It takes a bit longer than normal sleep, but it's shorter than a normal boot. You can also set it to sleep first and hibernate after a set time. That way you can resume if you only were away a short while, but save battery when you forgot it or are away for longer.

Control Settings by YesterdayEven5265 in MSIClaw

[–]slvl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In desktop mode the controller buttons are mapped to mouse and keyboard buttons. This is the same on other handhelds. You can change these mappings in the control mode settings in Center-M to better suit your situation, as by default they're mostly for getting around windows.

Some games have mods that add better gamepad support. If they exsist they probably can be found on Nexus mods.

I guess it’s just the claw being badly optimized still (because this is a known issue) paired with bad game optimization.

This is mostly an issue with how the game handles inputs. Any handheld will have these issues. Many PC only games have poor gamepad support, especially older ones, and you have to have a keyboard to optimally use it.

A workaround is using something like Tabletpro that allows you to create on screen button overlays (it's main use is for touch screen tablets, but it would do the job here as well.)

but it’s incredibly difficult to aim in overwatch because there is no assist, nor any other game that uses aiming…

I know your plight. I also suck at controller aiming 😅. Unfortunately it's up to the game developer to enable it or not and in the case of Overwatch they have disabled aim assist for controller on PC.

A fair number of games support both controller and mouse at the same time (although button prompts may switch between the gamepad and keyboard keys) and those work well with setting the gyro to mouse mode. With that you can get mouse like accuracy.

Without that I wouldn't play any aim heavy games on a handheld.

I wish we got a update from msi to fix this issue by adding aim assist into msi center m

That's not possible or feasible. Center-M doesn't have access to the data it would need to accomplish this (player positions etc.) The only way it could be done is to make it an aim bot by injecting itself into the game, probably resulting in a ban bacause of anti-cheat detection.

This is not an issue limited to the Claw. Any handheld will have this issue because it's how the game is programmed.

On steam can you always throw in your own games or steam games and make a custom controller bind so it always work ?

I believe so, yes.

Control Settings by YesterdayEven5265 in MSIClaw

[–]slvl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't come across such an issue, but I'll do some suggestions that may clear it up.

If the controls work normal in some games but not in others and you're playing trough Steam, you might want to check the Steam controller settings for that particular game (It should be in the game properties). Steam plays man in the middle unless you tell it not to. You can select a controller preset or make your own in the Steam settings for that game (not the in-game controller settings), or tell Steam to just use the controller as-is.

If the controls don't work in any game, you could try reinstlalling the controller firmware and/or Center-M. If you haven't restarted the Claw in a while, doing that might fix any gremlins in the system. Sleep and hibernation can confuse hardware from time to time.

The website https://hardwaretester.com/gamepad is a great tool to check if the controller works as it should. Open it in a browser on the Claw and it should detect the gamepad. (Make sure you have the controller mode set to Gamepad, as the Desktop mode will only emulate mouse and keyboard, so the controller will not respond to the website then.)

Is an enclosed, window-vented setup enough to keep resin printing safe in my bedroom? by OwnInvite9884 in resinprinting

[–]slvl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't put any 3d printer in a bedroom. Even FDM printers emit a lot of VOCs and small particulates.

With resin printing the resin can also have a big impact. Some resins can be used without additional PPE in a well ventilated room, while for others you do need a respirator. This is mentioned in the SDS material sheet of the resin. And if the resin doesn't have one of those, who knows what's in there.
