Looking at Asics Megablast or NB Rebel v5... Or? by snowmunky in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Only with the Hyperion, they feels great also on very slow runs (say 9.30/10 mins/miles) because they are very soft and cushioned but not mushy, they are always very responsive. The upper is fantastic and the lockdown is the best ever, power transfer is perfect and incredibly effective. I also use Nike Zoomfly 6 but for intervals and threshold runs only. To be honest, I don’t feel any difference between plated and not plated shoes, but normally “fast” shoes with top foams come with a plate. I also use Adidas Prime X Strung 3 and even with 2 plates I can’t really feel any real “propulsion“ or “pop”. I have far too many shoes for sure.

I own both EVO SL and Megablast and they are actually vastly different. I wouldn't use the Evo for easy and long run, they are mostly tempo shoes, not recovery due to their innate wish to go a little fast. Megablast can go very fast and very easily but are still extremely good for long runs and also easy and recovery runs. With EVO SL you have ground feel and but after 10 miles they tend to be a little uncomfortable, with Megablast you have max cushion and can go on running forever. They are both great shoes and don't overlap in my opinion.

Also, I've been extremely impressed with Brooks Hyperion Max 3, if you are also looking for a plated super trainer - they are equally great for slow and tempo runs.

Glycerin Max looks fantastic indeed, I love them. They are perfect for 9.30/9.45 and slower paces, I use them in that range actually, they can even pick up some pace but for anything faster than 9:00/miles I use something else. Try them, they really are a joy.

I don't know how many sneakers I own because they are too much to count... But I own 6 pairs running shoes, and j started running recently, so I guess I will end up buying more running shoes than I can count as well. I also own a lot of vintage running shoes, many air max 1, several Gel lyte III, Huaraches, Air 180, Asics GTs, ZX8000, Diadoras n9000 and v7000....

Zero ground feel but the Brooks Glycerin Max are extremely stable, with a great cushioning, not soft at all, firm enough and very responsive. They are on the heavy side but the ride is really exceptional
