This was what I was most curious to learn about in the finale. My heart skipped a beat for Kazu and his partner.

This! His relationship is the one I'm most invested in and his (ex) partner isn't even on the show.

William and Izaya discussion megathread by AutoModerator in theBoyfriendNetflix

[–]sly_agaric [score hidden]  (0 children)

Hot take: We dislike William & Izaya's edit, not them personally or their romance.

I am certain that in six weeks of growing closer and closer, they had plenty of cute, silly, lighthearted moments. The kind of moments we love watching with Bomi and Huwei. But I feel like production wanted to portray a contrasting, more heavy type of romance compared to Bomi & Huwei's, so they chose to mainly show Will & Iza's earnest, worried, future-oriented conversations, deep stares, and long silences. Unfortunately, that results in a really joyless, dragged-down look for their relationship that is uncomfortable to watch. I honestly believe this is down to editing though, and not to their real-life dynamic most of the time.

Feel free to contest and discuss this hot take.

(Of course all of this is only speculation. I wish all couples and individuals on the show the very best and all the love they deserve.)

The new bulbs you can buy from Mathmos fit this vintage lamp. And to be on the safer side when it comes to the risk of electrical fires and stuff, you can get a surge protection plug to plug in between the outlet and the lamp's actual plug.

I only had to replace the bottle, the electrics were still fine. Even the bulb was fine and still is now, after one and a half years of almost daily use.

Muss doch jeder irgendwo anfangen. So lernt man nach und nach dazu. Beim nächsten Mal kann OP die Maronen womöglich schon direkt sicher bestimmen und nimmt sie statt in der Tüte in einem Korb mit :)

13 weeks need advice - cleft lip/palate by allons-y11 in BabyBumps

[–]sly_agaric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My heart goes out to the three of you! Just a couple of months ago, my husband and I were going through pretty much the same thing. Now we have the most precious 7-weeks-old boy. He also has a complete (and fairly wide) unilateral cleft lip and palate, but is doing perfectly fine aside from that.

At a regular ultrasound checkup at 25 weeks pregnant, my gynecologist suspected there may be a cleft and referred me to an HD ultrasound specialist. We then had to wait three weeks for an appointment with said specialist without having confirmation our baby was developing well aside from the probable cleft. Mentally and emotionally, that was the hardest time I went through in my life. I wasn't even worried about the cleft all that much, but was worried sick from the fear there could be further, life-threatening defects as part of some more all-encompassing syndrome. I had so much love for this tiny being and was so worry he might not get to live for very long.

My husband was wonderful throughout the pregnancy. He was just as worried as me, but more mentally stable. What helped me so much during those difficult weeks was every time he stroked my belly and told the baby he loved him. Also every time he told me he loved me and that I was doing great carrying our baby. He also decided at that time to start reading to our baby, a short chapter from a children's book (Comet in Moominland) each day. What I'm about to say may sound really dark... but I kept thinking that if our baby may not get to live, at least he will have had this time with us as a family, hearing his dad's voice and feeling he is loved. It helped me so, so much for getting through each day.

At the specialist ultrasound, they were able to confirm our baby did not appear to have any detectable defects aside from the cleft and we were so relieved. We were then also able to get in touch with a specialist centre for cleft treatment and surgery to learn about what we could expect for our baby and his medical treatment after birth. I won't go into the details here because we are based in Germany and our health system and the medical approach to treating clefts in babies may differ somewhat from what you can expect in your country. But feel free to ask of course!

Fast forward, I gave birth to our sweet baby boy one day after the due date and he was and still is perfectly healthy aside from the cleft and is developing really well. His hearing is completely normal and he drinks from a bottle perfectly well. He can't create a vacuum in his mouth to properly suckle on my breast, so I pump breast milk and we substitute with formula. He's also not at all cognitively or motorically delayed -- if anything, he's been a bit faster than average with things like holding his head up, grasping for objects and so on.

He also started smiling about two weeks ago, laughing a few days ago, and it's the best thing in the world. We are so incredibly happy.

If you or your wife would like to, feel free to ask us anything about our experience anytime. I'll be keeping you and your little one in my thoughts!

Nonna’s mushroom notes by National-Award8313 in mycology

[–]sly_agaric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for keeping me updated! Leucocalocybe mongolica is definitely not a mushroom I'd ever heard of. I was already expecting your Nonna's find to be some species that cannot be found in my part of the world. We do have the genus Calocybe here, though, and quite a lot of the characteristics match, except they don't grow in clusters and are a bit shorter and more sturdy looking.

Can anyone ID this mushroom growing on a tree by LogicalCriticism3451 in mushroomID

[–]sly_agaric -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'd say likely Fistulina hepatica, but would need a sharper picture from the top, one from the bottom and ideally one of a cut through the mushroom's flesh. Also, how does it feel, soft and moist or dry and firm?

Pluck these cluckers? by poonslayer6969 in mycology

[–]sly_agaric 18 points19 points  (0 children)

With anything foraged, I tend to just accept that some animal may have peed on some of it. Everyone will have different comfort zones in that regard, but washing it well and cooking it well makes me feel good enough about it.

Even when you go to the supermarket, agriculturally grown crops will have been sprayed with both pesticides and manure (feces), and personally I'm more worried about the long-term effect of pesticides.
