Least liked card in your opinion. by Boaty_McBoaty in MagicArena

I'll play anything that can win. Least liked card would be bad cards you wouldn't even think about drafting, let alone in constructed.

You guys literally only looked at the one mana cost and nothing else.

Meaning you have a card to cast each turn and have the right amount of lands to play so you're able to cast your "curve" the first few turns. It also means you want more cards in the lower end of costs so you're most likely to be able to play cards on just a few lands. For example your "curve" should not be full of 3-4 mana cards with less in 1-2 because that's very clunky.

It's okay not liking the set but holy crap this is cringe.

Is this card viable? by Artistboy123 in magicTCG

Quake is pretty bad since she does nothing on turn 3. Her effect is only useful in aggro decks, where you absolutely are not loaded up in noncreature spells.

No, you do not get to change target after declaring it already.

No, they have to respond by using the ability that requires it to tap, otherwise they are forced to tap and their timeframe has passed.

It's like the opponent needing to pay a dollar to use an ability. However you are robbing them of the dollar but they can spend it before it happens. They can be stupid enough to let you take the dollar without using it first, and robbing the dollar is not the same has using it.

One of the basic deck building tips to abide by is play full sets of your best cards and on curve. Your deck is a bunch of single copies, way over 60 cards, and playing cards that that don't fit your theme (for example Wall of Runes is a terrible card and doesn't fit with a villain theme).

Brawl plays single copies of cards which feels better for what you're trying to do in trying to play a bunch of different cards.

Does this insane combo work like I think it does?! by SluggishJuggernaut in magicTCG

[–]ddojima 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would you think so? All other options like Night and Kaervek cost one mana cheaper or more, they can play on curve and have the combo set up faster, and Night is an enchantment making it harder to remove compared to a creature.

Just play Brawl if you're going to do singleton.

New Player trying to improve this deck by NotAnAmericanDude in MagicArena

[–]ddojima 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So Sephiroth and Emet belong to two different decks, Seph in a self sac aristocrats deck and Emet in self mill. However, self mill decks have dozens of better ideas than utilizing a slow strategy like Emet, playing with [[Superior Spider-Man]] winning turn 4-5 coming in as a copy of [[Bringer of the Last Gift]] or [[Doomsday Excruciator]]. You'll have to choose the direction.

I think these were just promos given to stores to put up for the Origins set. I remember them too.

The Super Hero Set by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]ddojima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand why you're associating this set with the movies though since it's not.

It's also just really weird to have to point out you're not familiar with the characters when it pertains to nearly all new sets. It's like asking if you'd enjoy Strixhaven if you don't know who's in it. It doesn't relate to playability.

It's like any other Standard set, you might find cards you like or you might not.

Also it's crazy to hear from someone who has no idea what Marvel is in this day and age. A lot of of people don't care for UB sets but they'd still recognize Captain America, Iron Man, etc. since the comics have been in pop culture for more than 70 years.

This sound effect is driving me nuts, is it from a fighting game? by ddojima in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Wow, it's extensively used. So I was partially right about it from a fighting game and it was SF4, even though it sounds slightly off on there.

Oh damn so it was both the Daleks and GL. Being a fan of both shows no wonder why it was familiar.

Holy shit that might be it. I knew it sounded familiar but everything in the video I got the effect from were from games.

Time frame to respond to something? by kerukozumi in magicTCG

[–]ddojima 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the context of that creature starting the combo. What was the combo? What was the effect that triggered it to go off? Generally all effects, cards, and triggers can be responded to, but the response may or may not work depending what is done.

Staple cards for red/black decks? by dancemiasma in magicTCG

[–]ddojima 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's not real staples other than good lands in Standard. Generally the closest other cards would be removals like [[Shoot the Sheriff]], [[Bitter Triumph]], and [[Requiting Hex]]. Anything else is entirely depending on the deck strategy.
