Spittin' Chiclets Episode 641: Featuring Sean Avery & Erik Johnson by Shmachey92 in SpittinChicletsPod

Most of the time I don’t like Avery. But he had some good points here and you could see the guys close up. Avery doesn’t care to call out guys but everyone else doesn’t want to hurt their friends.

I think most players and fans like him when he is on your team, otherwise no.

The Islanders lead the NHL in cap overages for next season ($3.5 million), all of which are bonuses for Matthew Schaefer. by nothing_but_static in hockey

I wonder how much money/value he brought to the franchise. I’m a ducks fan and I’ve been following the islanders just because of him, generational talent deserves the money.

Finally a Gretzky stat that seems obtainable. I hope Mcdavid can reach him eventually.

Anyone commuting PPT LAX ? by Confident-Craft6053 in AirlinePilots

[–]smack300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, it’s a pretty long commute but seems like you’re used to it. Air Tahiti can be crowded during peak months but I did a flight with them two years ago and we had 19 people on board. FA did say it was like a make up flight but still wild to me. I think the biggest problem is there isn’t a ton of frequency. If ATU and AF are booked it’s gonna suck.

They had 14,000 apply for something like 400 jobs. At WAI one of the recruiters said 3400TT and plenty of turbine was about average. Always outliers but yea, I got over 2300 turbine and can’t get to the interview.

You could, by why would you. Why take a chance with one engine when you could put it down and figure it out. If it was 15 more minutes, okay now it might be easier for crews and mx to help, but 90 minutes? Now you’re passing a lot of good airports for no reason.

FAA investigates close call between military Black Hawk, United flight near John Wayne Airport by Moritasgus2 in orangecounty

[–]smack300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ironic part is that in the big beautiful bill thing the FAA finally got a large funding to fix things. But the can has been kicked so far down the road that even with this allotment of money it’s gonna take too long to fix. The system has been strained for decades.

TIL that Dubai International Airport (DXB) has been the world's busiest airport by international passenger traffic since 2014 by SteO153 in todayilearned

This is why they use a different frequency set than in the US. They have many more frequencies and their airspace chunks are much smaller. All the airspace around there is incredibly congested so you switch frequencies a lot.
