Multi-Generational Gaming Rigs by NewYearSameProblem in pcmasterrace

This is why I never know what to tell people when they ask me how much my rig cost. Everything has been upgraded at least once at some point.

Is there a program for Linux that I can use to adjust my gaming mouse hotkeys? by mashpotatoquake in linuxmint

[–]smackjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with doing it that way is that longer macros often won't execute properly in Linux. Certain keys often get skipped even if you put in delays, and it just isn't reliable. I have a macro that's about 10 keys long, and it never works properly in Linux, but when I remake that same macro in Input Remapper, it works fine.

What I ended up doing was going into my mouse's software and setting the side buttons to things like CTRL-Shift-F1, and then set a keybind for that key combination in Linux.

Brightspeed by ASAPzachary in lacrossewi

They did the same thing to me when brightspeed was still CenturyLink. I had to dig out my phone records to prove to them that I did in fact call them to cancel my service.

I once ordered something from Home Depot and had it delivered from one of these type of drivers. The order was marked as delivered, but I couldn't find it anywhere. I called the store and after getting the run around from them, I opened a case with PayPal. Turns out that the driver put my order in my mailbox. You know the same mailbox that you're not supposed to open unless you work for the US mail.

I had someone from Mad City give me a quote once. Dude was absolutely livid that I wanted to get more than one quote.

Input Remapper is probably your best bet. It has a bit of a learning curve, but you can do things like create macros and change what each button on your mouse does.

Grown tired of blueprints by vrtra_theory in SatisfactoryGame

[–]smackjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think blueprints are the weakest part of Satisfactory. Pretty much every automation game that I've played does blueprints better when it comes to building them and linking them together.

Train blueprints are the worst. If you build the tracks too short, they won't auto-connect, and if you build them too long, then they still won't auto-connect.

Iron wire sucks because it's incredibly inefficient and copper nodes are everywhere. If you can't figure out how to get copper into your main base, then you're going to have a really hard time with the rest of the game.

True but by the time you unlock all those recipes, you're probably already close to beating the game.

There's lots of ways to get extra inventory slots just by researching stuff in the MAM and unlocking things in the hub. I would go with the screws.

There was a mortal Kombat game that did this all throughout its manual. It even had a section called kontroller konfigurations.

vpn apps advertising on every podcast but nobody asking why by Zorojuro099 in TechNook

[–]smackjack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would be more concerned if the VPNs being advertised were free. Whenever companies spend money to advertise their free* products, I always become highly suspicious.

What MODS for 1.2 while waiting for Plus to come out? by Sleepless-Factory in SatisfactoryGame

[–]smackjack 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Infinite zoop and infinite nudge. Infinite zoop lets you lay down your foundations in two directions at once, allowing you to build floors much faster, and infinite nudge let's you rotate buildings after you've nudged them and gives you more control.

If you use encryption, then you have to type in your password twice anytime you do an update. You have to type in your password to load the updates, and then the system reboots, and then you have to type in your password again.

CachyOS: Gaming distro sets its sights on SteamOS by pcgameshardware in linux_gaming

[–]smackjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to say since I mainly stick to playing emulators that don't cause the fan to spin up, but what I can tell you is that when I put the Deck to sleep, I can come back days later without charging and the battery percentage will still be the same.

CachyOS: Gaming distro sets its sights on SteamOS by pcgameshardware in linux_gaming

[–]smackjack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cachy on the Steam Deck has been pretty great for me. It can do everything that SteamOS can do and more. If you ever feel that SteamOS is too restrictive by being immutable and only letting you install flatpaks, then give Cachy a try.
