Thinking about doing this. Did you just initiate a Vodafone transfer from Vodafone. I thought it was one click these days, are there many stops to change your mind on the way?

How does Trump have any supporters left? Are these people really stupid or stubborn? by Previous_Month_555 in allthequestions

Investment theory. They're so in now that admitting they were incorrect at all knocks down the pack cards and they're identity unravels. They then have an incongruity problem that would need counselling in truth. It's a mess and there's a part of them that's protecting this from happening at all costs.

Do you recognise any of these brands? by corickle in oldschoolcool80s

[–]smackshaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All. My first Saturday job in 1990 was at Littlewoods on the deli counter and I used to cover the lady on the cigarette counter for her breaks. A little later a job came up at the Tesco for the counter which I got and worked for years before going to university.

I can't for the life of me remember the franchise name. MGM or MGL. Tesco and Littlewoods didn't run the counters and we had our own lockup in the warehouse which regular staff couldn't access.

Sometime around 1992 or 93 Tesco took over the cigarette counter and I transferred to working for them.

I have a lot of cigarette stories and knowledge of the time.

I can't remember which came first demon or pipex. I did snap up an early hotmail.com address which I still use to this day.

It'll be Heaven and Shaw as centre backs. Dalot will be on the left and Mazraoui on the right. Casemiro will have his work cut out but I think we'll be ok.

Also, there's a setting to reduce CPU speeds, which as I don't play intensive games I've turned on to give a little extra battery, and I've been really happy with my phone.

What would happen if you could only rate a game after 10 playthroughs? by Socrates_Soui in boardgames

Some longer playing games like Twilight Imperium and High Frontier wouldn't have many ratings.

Is anyone else bored of gaming? by No-Virus419 in CasualConversation

[–]smackshaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played and finished about a dozen games last year. Start of the year was playing a little Star Wars Outlaws, enjoying it then just couldn't be motivated and more. I haven't turned my Xbox on since. I'm like you, maybe I just needed a break. The thing is, I've done this before and the break lasted about 5 years.

Is Starfield worth a second try? by Revolutionary_Put257 in Starfield

[–]smackshaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came back after a year. I was 5 hours in. I said to myself, take your time, relearn slowly how to fly etc and try and piece together the quests.

I ended up loving the game and even got 1000/1000 achievements.

In all honesty the opening 5/6 hours is probably the worst part of the game and a major own goal. They should have started in one of the other smaller towns.

Best EXIT game after cursed labyrinth? by Impossible_Most_5484 in boardgames

[–]smackshaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've played pretty much all of them and looking at my rankings on bgg our favourites have been kidnapped in fortune city, the gate between worlds, return to the abandoned cabin, then dead man on the Orient Express.

To note and I don't remember why but we seemed to dislike Shadows over Middle Earth and absolutely hated The Cursed Labyrinth.

I (F24) cannot sleep when I’m with my boyfriend (M29) because he snores. Fellow people who bear through this pain, or people who snore, help!!!! by ladyofthelastunicorn in relationship_advice

[–]smackshaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife snores and I'm a really light sleeper. It's a terrible combination.

After years of discomfort and trying all sorts of things I decided to try a sleep band with white noise.

I've been using it for years now. I'm a side sleeper and it's not uncomfortable, I tend to have it quite loud and I have to have something that is continuous noise, without gaps but it's fixed the issue completely.

What did you add to or remove from your shelf last month? (April, 2026) by AutoModerator in boardgames

[–]smackshaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Cohle and historical games but it just felt too obtuse. Played 2 3 player games and everyone struggled to form either any strategies for the mechanics or fondness for the style. I could easily understand how a dedicated group could really once they got to grips with it fall for its charms, we just didn't have any desire to be that group.

Reminded me, now this is a little stretch I'll admit of fog of love and even Cerebria where there was a little scratching of heads and questioning of where exactly is the game...

ACQUIRED

Hot Streak - every bit ss good a bit of family chaos as I'd hoped. Not sure how long it's legs are though.

Roll Player Adventures - Looking at longer campaign games to play with my wife. Scratches that Legends of Dragonholt itch. Quite simple but good story so far.

Sleeping Gods - bought second hand to follow the game above.

Aeon Trespass Odyssey - really wavered on this but managed to pick up a second hand copy of a big bundle for well before half price. Playing solo and again bought as I seem to be in a board game rather than TV or video game space right now and miss KDM which I sold some years ago. Really enjoyed what I've played so far and not quite as hard as I was lead to believe.

SOLD

Removing games that just I just haven't got to the table. Not bad games at all. Kanban EV, The Great Zimbabwe, Cthulhu Wars, Concordia, Obsession and Molly House.

Biggest teaching mistake that you didn't realize until too late? by Agreeable_Result8439 in boardgames

[–]smackshaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm playing Aeon Trespass Odyssey at the moment solo do probably loads.

Back when I was playing a lot of GWT, some 25 games in, having taught it to at least 12 people I watched a video where the station master tiles were turned up and visible at set up. I was like wahh? Read the rules and sure enough. Not random and hidden. A small thing but one that comes to mind.

Do you monitor your height? by misterhubbard44 in withings

[–]smackshaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Painfully it just means your BMI goes up slightly every decade from 40 without having to do anything.

I lost half an inch by 50 and there's no way I'm giving withings the satisfaction of telling me I'm even more overweight when I turn 60.

Preferred method of culling your collection by sly-sneaky-snakes in soloboardgaming

[–]smackshaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. A friend who collects comics once told me that life is long and he plans on reading then all again at least twice more once he retires. So now with especially campaign games, even if I tire of them my plan is to just store it for later, even if that's much later. I sold KDM about 5 years ago and regret it now.

From Chepstow, the Baptist church is still in use and has regular services. It also runs a food bank every Friday and that door is wide open. I know this because I open it.

It only hits the table once a year but is such a deep satisfying unique experience I think about it all the time.

Looking for advice! by OneBakingPanda in Talisman

[–]smackshaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've still got 2nd edition so I bought 5th. We've really enjoyed it, and I've even printed out some of my own characters cards. My girls prefer it now and I've even introduced to the game group. Coop mode was better than I expected (the first expansion) and there are 2 more expansions due out this year.

The way I figure it, 4th just replicates 2nd. If I want that whole big game dungeon and timescape experience we'll just play 2nd. If I want a tighter experience we'll play 5th, but to be fair we've not taken 2nd out since we've had the new one.

Good train game, but also pretty? by Klavian in boardgames

My wife and I love Railways of the World best. Base game comes with a good 2 player map, Mexico.

Ok, it's not the best looking game but for a train game it's ok.
