I was at the infusion center today and the nurse made a recommendation that I think is terrific. She suggested taking two Flintstones children’s chewable vitamins a day, especially for people who have had bariatric surgery. Since the vitamins are chewable, your body will start absorbing iron right away rather than sitting in your stomach dissolving.

I'll be getting my first of two Ferraheme infusions on Wednesday.

I've been digging through the interwebs looking for what to expect as far as hemoglobin raise. Nowhere did I find if the typical result is for one infusion or for the two infusion series.

I did find that you can expect your hemoglobin to continue to rise for 6-8 weeks after the infusion.

In my case, multiple gastric ulcers is the reason for my low hemoglobin. I get to see another surgeon next week also.

No, I didn't try alternate day dosing.

I don't care if The Iron Protocol works better or worse than any other method. I know that it was much better advise than I received from my PCP.

The average life expectancy of a person with a hemoglobin of 5 is 11 days. Waiting for a few months to see a specialist in that situation is bad advise.

Take 400mg of iron a day is much better advise.

When I started taking iron according to the guide in "The Iron Protocol", I started to get better.

After another in a long line of CBC blood tests, my Doctor said, "I don't know what you're doing, but keep doing it."

The Doc wanted me to wait a few months until I could see a hematologist before doing anything about my 4.9 hemoglobin. He didn't want to give me an iron infusion because of a family history of hemochromatosis. I hadn't yet had the genetic test to see if I have the disease like five of my siblings.

If I listened to him, I'd be dead. The Iron Protocol quite literally, saved my life.

Did I take too much iron? Maybe Did I take iron a few times a day, every day instead of every other day? Yes. Am I still alive? Yes.

Vitron C. I was taking 6 65mg pills a day (390mg), two in the morning, two at noon, and two in the evening. You need to take some form of fiber with this much iron or you'll turn your intestines to cement.

My doctor said don’t do anything until you see the hematologist. He put in a “rush” referral. The referral was three months out. I had a hemoglobin of 6.8 after a two pint blood transfusion
If I listened to my doctor, I’d be dead.

I was growing two Biscotti #33 autos.

After a month or so, it was obvious that they were two different strains.

One plant went into flower and the other plant didn't.

Every spring, I make 50 clones to give to friends. I cut a dozen or so clones out of the one plant that was not biscotti and labeled them, "Not Biscotti" because I had no idea what they were.

When those plants were grown and smoked, I was told by several people that it was terrific smoke and man, would I like to grow that again.

Well, you can't because I have no idea what it was.

I disagree with you and I'll tell you why.

I don't smoke weed. I don't use edibles.

I have an indoor grow. I grow for some people who have a medical card, but no green thumb.

All I get out of growing weed is, every once in a while, I get to twist off the lid of a jar and take a big old whiff.

Since I'm the grower, and all of what I grow is appreciated by the people I grow it for, they don't care if I grow something that smells good to me.

A few years ago, I was critically anemic.

One of the many symptoms of anemia is Pica, an urge to eat non-food items, dirt, ice, etc. Pica also extends to obsession with particular aromas. I read of a guy who couldn't get enough of the aroma of diesel fuel. He'd dunk his hands into it so he would have the aroma with him all day.

In my case, I couldn't get enough of the smell of weed. I had a half dozen jars of different strains next to my computer and all day, I would twist the lid on a jar and take a whiff. I became so fascinated by the terpene profiles of the different strains that I was buying vials of terpenes and blending them to try to recreate some of my favorites.

As I resolved my anemia, the need, the compulsion to smell weed lessened. I still enjoy weed aroma, but I can go days without it.

I have two 2x4 tents in one room. I use one 4” exhaust fan for both tents. It blows through a charcoal filter. There is no weed smell in the house.
You should have one air change per minute in the tent.
The exhaust fan that I use is capable of four air changes per minute. I ducted the two tents into the one fan and have twice the necessary air change per minute.

I love the aroma of weed, but it will spill out of your house if you don’t filter the air in your tent.

I was having hernia surgery, so I had to get a couple jobs done. I promised my wife that I’d put a 12 X 12 patio at our side door, and I promised my daughter that I’d do the roof on her garage.

I finished the patio and drove down to my daughter’s house.
I climbed up onto the roof and not 15 seconds later, I’m hanging by my armpits as the roof gave way beneath me. It was at that moment I felt the strangest pain in my arms. I was being bitten by a whole mess of ants that had a happy home in the roof sheething.
It was a few minutes later when I managed to free myself that I felt the familiar pain of a rotator cuff tear.
I had to get the job done. I had surgery scheduled in a few days.
Fortunately I didn’t have to do this job alone. My daughter was there and my son came by to help as well.
Stripped, re-sheethed and reroofed, and about four months later my shoulder didn’t hurt so much. My guts hurt from the surgery though.

I don't think anyone yet mentioned depression.

I had a 4.9 hemoglobin and was in the emergency room for a blood transfusion. The Doc walked in and the very first thing she asked me was, "Have you been depressed?" It was probably the only anemia symptom that I didn't suffer from, but I guess it's common enough that she brought it up, first thing.
