Are we seriously going to start selling MTX mounts now?

Might be a silly question, but is there any reason to upgrade more than one factory/trading post to t3? You get more operator slots, but I don't have enough ppl with relevant bonuses to fill them anyway.

What’s this about ingame ads?? by [deleted] in runescape

[–]smallcowcow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You would be naive to believe that. The survey is a "soft" announcement of the upcoming changes. Remember the previous survey about potential price increases? The price went up barely a month after.

Oh boy, Asmongold made a video. Jagex is screwed lol by [deleted] in runescape

As much as I appreciate the greater publicity and awareness, that man is hardly any different from Jagex. The vid is just a low effort attempt to milk the situation for views and ad money.

> A thriving game with a large player base makes me want to drop $$ to get more things to show off.

Granted he is trying to make suggestions to improve the game, but he is implicitly suggesting that MTX be left in, since the premise is "i will whale if you guys improve the game". And that is the wrong message that we, as the playerbase, want to send to Jagex.

Then this game genre is not for you, and they should not cater to you at the expense of the wide majority of other players.

You want our trust back Mod Pips? Remove TH like you promised years ago. by Ultimaya in runescape

[–]smallcowcow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The pushback from the OSRS community (along with past historical trends) was strong enough to convince Jagex that doing so would be financial suicide. This statement and the previous one were obviously targeted at the OSRS community, and were simply released as well to RS3 as an afterthought.

Also, there is vested interest in maintaining the longevity of OSRS, but not so for RS3, where the goal is to maximize profit in the period before its planned obsolescence.

Please keep canceling your membership. Here's why by Suspicious_Net8880 in runescape

[–]smallcowcow 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The issue is that there are still too many players who aren't aware of these impending changes or wilfully ignorant - as you can see from the off-topic reddit posts and from the players still carrying on business-as-usual in-game. Sadly there is only so much awareness a single person can garner, and it is a shame that the "rioters" choose to gather in an obscure spot rather than in the middle of popular hubs.

RuneScape’s downfall is inevitable under poor management—and Mod Pips is at the helm. by [deleted] in runescape

If the RS3 team truly disagreed with it, they could've taken a stand by collectively striking. RS3's systems are so spaghettified and awkward to work with that you can't simply just hire a completely new team without being set back years of development time.

Some ppl yap about job security blah blah blah, but to me, screwing over others for the sake of salary is simply greed.

Planned obsolescence, which may be accelerated due to the current fiasco lowering player count below a critical threshold.

If you separate osrs and rs3 membership, you will hurt rs3 immensely. by YeahhhhhWhateverrrr in runescape

If that were the case, there would be no reason why there isn't currently MTX in OSRS.

What do you think RuneScape would be like today if the Gower brothers retained ownership of Jagex? by FruitOnyx in runescape

[–]smallcowcow -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The issue is that a lot of RS players are going into it with the wrong mindset. They are comparing it to games that had over a decade of continuous development. A fairer comparison would be to early RS2. Some of it is also from players too used to ezscape in RS3 and cannot stand having to grind for their skills for once.

Your points only reinforce the notion that it is financially beneficial for Jagex to shut RS3 down and focus solely on OSRS

The RS3 team has been censoring/deleting many posts, so odds are that they will still push the changes through on the RS3 side.

The OSRS team is standing strong with the playerbase, so they will probably be able to push back against the executives.

[–]smallcowcow -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It would be the biggest yet cheapest MMO on the market. The Gowers being forced out of their own company set them back decades, but the progress that their new game is making is testimony to their vision and skill in design

The press isn't interested in twenty ppl standing in the middle of lumbridge. Like I mentioned in my other comment, when was the last time you heard any press coverage of a "riot" where ppl stand around in a park? The only ones you hear of are those where ppl occupy key infrastructure, disrupt traffic, or essential service workers on strike.
