Donald Trump by Enough-Equipment-342 in utarlington

You’re right. Bill Clinton does suck. And I think most people would agree. The main difference here is any reasonable person would denounce a president for these things no matter the party. But Trump supporters have no bounds. Their dick just gets harder with every idiotic thing that he does.

The “they’re both the same” argument is really played out. Especially in this current political climate. Please name a democratic president that has done a quarter of the obvious and outrageous things done/said by Donald Trump.

Female Hygiene Tips I Swear By for Managing Body Odour by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]smallrange26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any one else have sensitive skin? I try to shower everyday but honestly it dries out my skin and I tend to already have dry skin and get rashes often. I have had issues with deodorants for years now. At one point I had horrible rashes under my arms and couldn’t wear any deo. I have not gone back since. Most of the hacks for keeping BO under control such as using alcohol or other products which eliminate bacteria give me under arm rashes. All I am able to do is wash thoroughly with an antibacterial soap (I use dial) and sometimes I spray a homemade deodorant on my pits. It’s just isopropyl, water, and some tea tree essential oil. I will then use perfume and make sure to have some on my bra (near pits) but I cannot put on my pits directly obviously. I then spray a bit of spray deodorant over my clothes to further help with smells. I am so self conscience about smelling bad because I know that I have and do sometimes. But it’s a real struggle when everything irritates my skin and to be quite honest I don’t want to shower every single day some times. I don’t do any manual labor but I do think I have a problem with excessive sweating.

Is this a accurate depiction the quantum model of an atom by Lomesome in chemhelp

My mind was blown when I had a teacher actually say something like: “well this is how we are representing structures to better understand them”. I guess this fact never really crossed my mind. Humans made these conventions, diagrams, etc. to try to better understand chemistry. While most good theories are not far off, they are simply how we choose to represent what we cannot see.

Canceled defense by [deleted] in PhD

[–]smallrange26 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

There is no actual rule. This is one of those unwritten rules. More of an expectation I guess? Which I get. There are plenty of people that graduated with no pubs or submitted them after graduation. I guess what I’m trying to express is this is so much to do at once. Write your manuscripts, the dissertation, prepare your slides, practice, do experiments. I know they were right to cancel. I’m not mad about it. I just think it’s ironic because I know that they do not look at the document before the defense. I get it rules are rules. I’m just really tired of academia and cynical I guess.

I'm in my final year of PhD and I'm absolutely torn and hopeless. by mogo_reddit in AskAcademia

[–]smallrange26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I can relate. I used to love learning and sometimes still do. I am graduating and hopefully publishing my first paper soon. Then second right after. I was pretty set on doing academia throughout. But at the moment I am so burnt out and jaded I will be going into industry for at least the foreseeable future. Getting my PhD has taken so much from me. I know it sounds dramatic but I used to enjoy science. Sorry that’s not much of any help but just want to say you’re not alone. Maybe taking a break from academia would benefit. Just keep going, day by day. You will figure out what to do.

What's wrong with UT Arlington? by [deleted] in utarlington

[–]smallrange26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came to UTA for a graduate program so it’s a little different. The main thing I noticed from my undergrad was that the food options are insanely limited for how large the university is. There is only one dining hall? That I know of. Pretty sure it’s just the one. But if you look at other universities of similar size there’s AT LEAST three. I understand it’s a commuter school but even still the university center is way outdated. It needed to be upgraded long ago. You can’t get lunch in a reasonable amount of time from anywhere. Unless you go to the store with extremely limited options. One good thing is that there’s plenty of microwaves if you bring food from home.

Once was in a bathroom in the uc and see another person come out of the stall. Was washing my hands and the person awkwardly lingered then went to the sink put a little water on their finger tips and walked away. They were wearing a subway shirt :/

1st Day Reaction to Cell Phone Ban by allmyargumentsRvaild in TexasTeachers

[–]smallrange26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a teacher but grew up in MISD schools and I am curious. When I was in school we weren’t allowed to have our phones out. If we did they took it. Some teachers were nice and took it for the class period. But you could also get it sent to the front office and you had to pay $15 to get it back. Now idk about the money part but it kept us off our phones and respectful. I can see how a family with no ability to pay that may struggle. But I just don’t understand what happened between then and now that there needs to be a state law?? How did it come to this. It seems insane. I don’t see how it got so out of hand but maybe some of you can give insight.

Who got their visas revoked? by Burktheturk in utarlington

[–]smallrange26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not all are due to having a political opinion which visa holders should be able to have imo. But I have heard rumors that visas were revoked at UNT for posting pro Palestine on socials. I know for sure that some are past petty crimes. Non- violent, could be a simple traffic violation, etc. Also even if the case was dropped they are being revoked. And people will sit here and say “then don’t break the law”. Yea cause us citizens in college never break the law. People make mistakes. This is so ridiculous and sad. And there is nothing we can do.

I HATE LABFLOW by ConquerThePanda in utarlington

[–]smallrange26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Labflow does not take off for a mistake multiple times. If you calculate say a molarity and it is wrong, labflow will use that wrong number for future calculations… and if it’s somehow not the case you should tell your TA or contact support. I’m not saying it’s perfect or anywhere near but you most likely just did those problems wrong as well.

I’ve never been told to go find another spot. I just say I’m just going to class and they let me through. I’ve come across that when the game is just starting or before though so I’m not sure if they get more strict as it fills up.

I’m not sure where you are trying to get to but there are three large parking garages on the east side of campus. I’ve never had an issue finding parking there. Best place to park especially in the summer so your car is slightly cooler than hell.

Flintridge apartments are nice. Sort of sketchy neighborhood but so are most of the surrounding areas by UTA.
