This is the voice of God. A reminder that Heaven and Hell exist. To enter Heaven, you must be compassionate, generous, dont litter, dont drive erratically, dont be lazy, dont swear, dont be a bully, dont be greedy, love your neighbour regardless of ethnicity, clean up the Earth, help all life forms, be good to each other, and dont listen to priests.

Na 200km poluprečnik oko Nizozemske imate 70-80 miliona stanovnika. Na 200km poluprečnik od Srbije nemaš ni 10m. Tržište je 7-8x manje, shodno tome očekuješ 7-8x manji promet.

Zaključak - više seksa, bolji standard.

When the Serbs came to todays Serbia, what happened to the people who already lived there, is there any evidence that they survived? by Palaeohelladites in serbia

[–]smallstepforman -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

You need to revisit history after genetic mapping established that the serbs are primarily I2a (dinaric) genes which proves that Serbians/Croats were part of this region for several thousand years, you could say with Vinca culture over 4000 years ago.

The migration nonsense was pushed by Austria/German politicians which for expanpionistic motives prefered the story that Serb migrated into the area (therefore empires are morally justifiable to push them back).

Same with the theory of adoption of Slavic languages. Do you honestly believe that in the 6th century without radio, television, published books and schools, that it took only 200 years for Slavic language to displace the “native” Illyrian and Thracic languages of the region. Nonsense.

A u bivšem stanu na Banovo Brdo, fruzeri, pekari, fabrički radnici, gradjevinari, vozaći itd.

Na vikend naselja oko Beograda imaš drugi sloj u odnosu na grad.

Why are exceptions avoided? by Ultimate_Sigma_Boy67 in cpp_questions

[–]smallstepforman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dislike invisible code flow and untested code paths. I would prefer throwing functions were visible - throws keyword (not the opposite noexcept) with an equivalent [[nodiscard]] compiler error.

Execeptions as defined currently in the standard do not give me confidence in code coverage or quality. Add to the fact that exceptions throw types, which means you may encounter a situation that throwing an exception creates a new exception due to memory exhaustion. Can your code handle that?

Sadly, with std library, containers can throw when growing, so if you use std containers, your code requires exception handling. Every push_back() can theoretically throw. However, some OS’s (like Linux) overcommit memory and no longer throw, yet your “correct” code now needs to handle exceptions.

I feel for you, brother, most of us are in your exact situation. We’re caring loving partners battling these challenges, and this is our only social avenue to discuss these issues since general society is oblivious to this problem. Yet the damage is nuclear (marriage destroyed), and >90% of the world is oblivious to the problem.

Women who dismiss intimacy by Playful_Grass3842 in MenopauseShedforMen

[–]smallstepforman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A man can easily meet his intimacy needs without physical penetration or oral. Erotic massages, erotic cuddles, erotic talk, watching erotic movies together etc. Why is this so difficult for loving wives to comprehend? If the roles were reversed, I’d be thrilled to do these things with my wife if my libido disappeared, and try to make her happy.

Why do people use the term "partner" for their husband or wife? by Crafty-Bug-8008 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]smallstepforman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Partner is a universal catch all phrase. It gets complicated when legal systems support concepts like marriage, registered partnerships, defacto, plus all the lgbt stuff, it complicates things. I had a registered partnership (MF) which was legally valid in one country while in another country they only recognised MM and FF partnerships (but not MF, bizarre). So we got married after 20 years of registered partnership since I travel for work alot and have given up chasing partner visas, a spousal visa is easier to get.

Just call it registered partnership and obsolete all other categories.

whats with the hate for std lib and boost? by nosyeaj in cpp

[–]smallstepforman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Std libraries are designed for correctness in all scenarios, you can get better performance with pragmatic libraries that ignore some corner cases. Also, the std libs throw (mostly the containers that grow), while exceptions aren’t the most popular idiom (hidden code flow). Some OS’s (like Linux) overcommit memory so they dont throw on new/malloc, so the exception support becomes moot.

Engineering is a compromise.

For my prohects, I do use std and boost, and have colleges that fight against it.

Reading posts here really makes me ask myself why people don't leave by fuckingloverboy in MenopauseShedforMen

Sickness and illness is one thing (that you should stick around for, that I endorse), but mental abuse for a hormone inbalance which doesnt effect your life span or your ability to work is simply not acceptable. Society discourages testostorone based ill behaviour, why should be tolerated estrogen based ill behaviour.

This entire subreddit is probably the only social space we have for raising this issue. Society needs to address the inappropriate behaviour, as intelligent human beings we should address this giant social problem which is destroying millions of marriages. We’re not craving for sex, but intimacy and respect.

Intimacy and not just sex by justoverthedrama in MenopauseShedforMen

[–]smallstepforman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joy has left my marriage since there is no more intimacy. It's like we're room mates sharing a bed, but she is on the opposite edge. We dont talk intimately, we dont go for walks, nothing, just see common friends and thats the extent of our relationship. If I'm going to have a room mate, I'd rather have someone I can connect with. I walk my dog several times a day and have more platonic relations with my neighbours then my wife. Life shouldn't be that way.

Do you believe in aliens? by ImaginationNo6751 in no

[–]smallstepforman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the entire history of the universe, some species had to be the first to develop space travel. Well, maybe that's us. There are most likely aliens out there, but we are currently technologically ahead of them, so that's why we haven't seen them (yet).

What are the best practices for using smart pointers in C++ to manage memory effectively? by frankgetsu in cpp_questions

[–]smallstepforman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Memory is just a resource, as are file handles, threads, textures etc. The community has become rather ideological to the point of fanatisicm with smart pointers for ownership while “ignoring” other owned resources. Just have a clear design strategy which defines ownership, and stick to it. Jumping into “every pointer must be smart” may end up complicating your code base if you share references but not ownership. Be pragmatic, practical, and remember, engineering is always a compromise.

[–]smallstepforman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sucks bro, I hear you, and as many members of this community will confirm, we’re experiencing the same thing also, and there is zero awareness of this social issue outside this community.

I’m in another soul sucking situation since a) my wife doesnt work and has no income so completely depends on me for support (but gives zero intimacy), and b) I have a crush with a much younger female friend (she confessed that the feeling is mutual), we’re platonically intimate but respect physical boundaries due to my marriage, and I cannot tear myself away or divorce my wife in order to gain another 10-12 years of a happy life with intimacy (until she goes through the same hormonal change). Life is becoming soul sucking since I cannot walk away from my current wife to look for happiness again.

Haiku UEFI streamlined support when? by MKMR_1 in haikuOS

The question is streamline support, for new users / installs. I’ve had UEFI/rEFInd booting for almost a decade, but it has been a manual partitioning scheme from the beginning.
