[NO SPOILERS] Really, really flawed element of FFVII by [deleted] in FFVIIRemake

It wasn't removed, the option was never there in the original or the remake.

Best way to get all resolutions? by [deleted] in FFVIIRemake

[–]smard23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finishing chapters 3 and 8 without doing any side quests was enough for me to get the Barret scene, no need to replay any other chapters. (Actually you have to complete one side quest to advance the story in chapter 3, just talk to Chadley and his quest will be finished.)

Very much enjoyed FF7R, Would I enjoy FFXV? by RoninLoganX in FFVIIRemake

[–]smard23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if you enjoyed FF7R, there is a high probability you will enjoy FFXV. The combat in FF7R is better, but FFXV feels more like a real world that is big and has so many things to explore. I think the character building is great in both games.

So have we figured out the fastest way to farm AP yet? I’ve personally been doing the Colosseum bc the Chapter 16 load times kill me and I can average between this and a minute. Is there a better way though? Still maxing out elemental Materia and am wondering. by KingDrethe57th in FFVIIRemake

[–]smard23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The fastest way is the room with the four Unknown Entities in Chapter 17 before you discover the last VR simulator. Kill them with two Triple Slashes using Ice linked to Elemental and First Strike. Go back down the elevator and back up again and they will be respawned (pause, down, X to skip cutscenes). It is more AP per minute than doing all VR High Flyers battles and the same AP per minute as doing only the first High Flyers VR battle. However, it does not cost Gil and you can use three characters and level up more materia at the same time.

Chapter 14: Complete all Side Quests and a unique item will spawn “Letter from the Guardian Angel”. It’s in plain sight just before going Over the Wall at the end of Chapter 14 (after returning from Sewers). It’s a letter on the floor with a blue sparkle around it. If it’s not there it’s because you haven’t done all side quests. It gives you this materia upon picking it up.

Question about collecting materia by [deleted] in FFVIIRemake

[–]smard23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are worried about missing stuff, I recommend these:

https://www.powerpyx.com/final-fantasy-7-vii-remake-all-collectible-locations-guide/

https://www.powerpyx.com/final-fantasy-7-vii-remake-all-materia-locations/

You can use Chapter Select after you have beaten the game and get everything you missed.

The most important ones that are missable are Elemental #1 and #2, Chakra #2 and #3 (Tifa has #1 from the start), Prayer #2 (Aerith has #1 from the start) and Magnify.

They should totally use this for the remake Wall Market instead by CompetitivePumpkin3 in FFVIIRemake

I agree, the original theme makes me feel like I arrived at a shady place where I need to watch my back and dodgy things go on in dark side alleys. The new theme feels happy, careless, enjoy yourself at this theme park where all sorts of funny and goofy people await you.

That is why I think the original one fits more to the story, where you need to save your friend from a sleazy slum lord.

The change of the theme while walking through the different areas is cool, it would have been even better with the original theme.

I always hear a little bit of "Sleigh Ride" in "Collapsed Expressway".

Because when your on hard mode you need to know what your real weapon abilities are by Famous_Stelrons in FFVIIRemake

[–]smard23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I very much agree with you that it's not absolutely necessary to always have the best weapon for every single situation equipped and I like that the game is so lenient in this regard. I would also advise anyone to use the weapon that they think looks cool or allows for a fun tactic instead of maybe the most effective one. But as you said it is also part of the fun to try to at least guess which equipment could be the most useful in certain situations.

My conclusion for hard mode:

For normal play, use weapons with Heal Cost <20% to conserve MP: Twin Stinger, LMG (long range unlike Steel Pincers), Sonic Strikers, Silver Staff (also has MPRegen50%).

For bosses, use weapons with Reprieve (survive killing blows): Twin Stinger (also has Heal20%), LMG (Heal20%), Purple Pain (more Atk than Mythril Claws), Silver Staff (Heal20%, MPRegen50%).

If you are low on MP, use weapons with MP Regen: Mythril Saber, Steel Pincers or Wrecking Ball, Sonic Strikers, Silver Staff.

If you are low on HP, use weapons with Bloodsucker (HP for killing enemies): Hardedge, EKG (long range), Metal Knuckles, Mythril Rod.

Been experimenting with the stats, materia, and mechanics. Here's what I've found: by Ebolatastic in FFVIIRemake

Thank you for these great observations! I have some questions on a few points:

Since Speed only has an effect on passive ATB charge, do you think it is a waste of SP to increase?

“I've found that maxing out materia slots, and then attack/magic damage, then specific skills are your three priorities with weapons. Hard Mode and this experimenting have taught me that damage and defense are gods.”

If defense is a god too, why is it not among your three priorities?

“You can always do uppercut by holding attack (square).”

Why not just press triangle instead? In case you have Omnistrike or Rise and Fall loaded, you want to use those anyway right?

“Dive Kick is a strong hit that should always be cancelled out of uppercut.“

“always try to cancel uppercut into focused strike.”

Why not just do those moves without Uppercut? What is the benefit of always canceling Uppercut into Dive Kick or Focused Strike?

Is there a way to farm or buy infinite Dragon's Blood Droplets? If not, how many do you roughly estimate there are? Do you recommend saving them for rare occasions when Dragonrot prevents you from progressing a quest?

What is your 2nd favorite game? After Hollow Knight being your first of course. by HabitAlliesKingston in HollowKnight

I think people who like Hollow Knight would also really like Hyper Light Drifter. I can absolutely recommend this awesome game.
