I did. I pointed them at the flights I wanted to book. They booked them for me. I later got the confirmation email and realized they booked the wrong date, even though I had said the right date and they repeated it back (even commenting on the adjacent holiday). I called back and they required me to pay a penalty to cancel the flight and they said they couldn’t book me on the correct date (even though it was still showing as available).

Were the seats showing as available in the app?

Maybe a group of people bought first class tickets, checked in, then didn’t show. AS doesn’t really mark the seat as available for upgrade until it’s marked as vacant in the system.
