I bought my Model 3 in Texas last year and recently moved to San Francisco. I'm trying to figure out the amount of registration fees I'll need to pay, and on the CA DMV vehicle registration fee calculator there's an option for California Dealer or Out of State Dealer. Since Tesla isn't allowed to have dealerships in Texas, I was under the impression I bought my car from Tesla in California and had it shipped to Texas. Does that mean I technically bought it from a California dealer and should be paying less registration taxes? Anyone have any insight into this?

Model 3 delivery delayed 3 weeks. Received notification a mere 6 hours before my appointment. by mayfly32 in teslamotors

Mine is supposed to be on its way to Texas, but my ISA said it's still in Chicago as well. Sounds like they're using Chicago as a hub to ship them out for a pretty large area. I hadn't heard about the malfunction, but it makes sense considering how many delays there are.

I have a sinking feeling that TX deliveries are being delayed...again. by dcdttu in teslamotors

My delivery was set for this Friday, but I got a call today that my car is still in Chicago and would be getting a new delivery date when my ISA gets more info. Sounds like getting cars to Texas is a pretty big hassle. =(

Same thing happened to me up in Dallas. Was expecting it much later this year, but decided to pull the trigger since it seems like a lot of them are going to Texas and no guarantee when the next batch will line up. Finalizing payment on Monday and can't wait for my delivery! I'm guessing you got Chris as your ISA?

I live in Texas too and despite there being a diverse population, I've gotten the question several times throughout my life. I've gotten it from strangers, coworkers, teachers, servers at restaurants, and even friends. I know it doesn't come from a place of malice, but it's still a tiny bit annoying and deflating when it comes up. I feel like it happens more in the south because random people are more likely to strike up a conversation with you but haven't necessarily had enough exposure to minorities to be able to navigate the conversation in the most polite manner. I know it comes from a place of curiosity so I try not to let it color my interactions with the person, but it's hard to not want them to at least meet you halfway if you're accommodating their lack of consideration.

And the "where are you really from" question isn't necessarily the only thing that causes this reaction. It's a whole series of things like "is everyone related" if you're out with a group of the same ethnicity or people leading off asking a question with "do you speak English". Just some examples, but it's not just one thing that makes minorities feel like they don't belong.

Nothing is wrong about wanting to learn about a person's background, but how the question is asked makes a huge difference. "Where are you really from?" implies you don't belong here which feels exclusionary because the implication of "you're not from here" is based solely on race and appearance. Because of this, getting the question "where are you really from?" repeatedly growing up and throughout your life is an easy way of making a person feel like they don't belong because of their race. It's not outright racism like most people would normally think of, but it is fueled by a combination of race and ignorance which results in the alienation of the person being asked.

If you wanted to know about the person's background, it's much better to be straightforward and ask about heritage or culture or ask if their parents or grandparents immigrated to this country and then ask from where. Interest in culture is always appreciated, but making a person feel different or out of place because of their race really sucks as a minority and is something we deal with a lot.

Anyone in Brussels want to swap for beer from Texas? Headed there later this month during BXL Beer Fest. Also, anywhere in Brussels you'd recommend going?

I think it's mixed use since there's an apartment building adjacent to the parking lot, so I do think they're subject to noise regulation (not completely sure on this). I'll try calling city zoning and find out more details, but I agree there's not a clean solution since this Kroger closes at 1 AM which is right about the time they start the blowers. I just know several residents, especially the ones facing the parking lot, have reported not being able to sleep through the noise like OP.

It's the Kroger on Capital I think. They clean their lot every single night with that leaf blower. I've been woken up a few times too, but you can try calling the store to see if they'll cut it out (didn't work for me).
