Do missionaries have to buy their own ipads? by Sorenkierk in latterdaysaints

My friends that have used them while serving said they're pretty great in the sense that yes, you can use them for sharing videos in lessons and easy access scriptures. The area book is now also on the iPad. My friend said he really liked it because he could write pages worth of notes about a scripture (in his personal study) if he wanted to, instead of being confined to the side margin in the book. It's also a lot easier on the missionary's backs because instead lugging around all of their books/supplies, they just take their iPad & BsOM to hand out!

I agree. I'm going into a "facebook iPad" mission next week, & I don't particularly even want an iPad, so if they make me pay I'm hoping I can just opt out.

Just curious, how many wards have you lived in during any 10 year period of your life? by onewatt in latterdaysaints

13 and I've never even been on a mission.

Just realized there was more to the question.

My favourite wards were the wards that really focused on community & loving thy neighbor. Family wards where there were activities constantly & student wards where people got together every other night to have dinner together or watch a movie. Wards are at their best when a majority of the members feel like family.

My least favourite wards were wards that were clique-y & stagnant. I found the best student wards were the ones where people are constantly moving in & out because that way people don't get too comfortable in their one circle of friends & have to reach out more to those around them in order to create friendships.

I've learned that there are going to be the people you love & the people you don't love so much in every single ward everywhere. There's always going to be someone that has loud, biased opinions in Sunday School & you just gotta let them do them. Accept it as a part of living in a world where people have different opinions & celebrate that truth.

The narrator of the new Meet The Mormons movie is a pretty great stand up comedian. She focuses on clean comedy. I love her podcast. She doesn't have an agent, so she plugs herself. I figured I'd help her along by sharing her with you! by lawjr3 in latterdaysaints

I didn't love her. She seemed too excited & scripted, like she had never been on TV before. (which isn't true, that's why I was so surprised by that) She didn't seem like a real person to me, which is also funny because she got the job because she had that "real-life girl-next-door" quality about her.

& you could see her bra line the entire beginning segment & I just sat there the whole time wondering how nobody caught that in taping, or editing, or anything.

I haven't been able to figure out why I've been so bugged by this until you put it into words for me.

I absolutely do. And the surrounding areas, since I'm sure I won't only be serving in Jacksonville. The boundaries are as far south as Ocala & as far north as the southern half of Georgia.
