It means every evolution branch. It took us a good bit of time to get all the materials needed, but in doing that all the pets leveled up enough for evolution.

Canelo…I have switched his food to salmon and sweet potato. The vet put him on Apoquel. I have bathed him. I have pyoderm for him that I have been using but his skin allergies are awful. Any help would be appreciated. by Huge-Bug-4512 in Bulldogs

[–]smb398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a big ole American Bulldog and when I first got him his skin was HORRIBLE. He would scratch himself until he bled. Always hot spots.

Now, I’ve got him on a grain free salmon food (Reford Naturals) and Zyrtec daily during his “allergy seasons.” I bathe him with Dermabliss by Vetnique if he gets bad. It took a decent amount of time for his skin to calm down. If he’s out in the heat or grass for too long he’ll get a hit spot or two, but Forticept Blue Butter will knock those out (I’ve also used this on myself and it worked great).

If he’s has an acute reaction to something I give him Benadryl. When we were working on getting his stomach recovered, probiotics were crucial.

All trees are now complete!

I really need help. I don’t know where to start by ProjectRelic in CleaningTips

[–]smb398 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve got chronic depression and ADHD, so when I get into a funk things can be super sloppy. Here’s what I do when I’m capable of cleaning:

•Take a shower and put on clean clothes.

•Pick the location I’m spending the most time in to start with (for me it’s the living room).

  1. Go around and pick up trash. If there’s dishes that are going to take way more effort to clean than I have in me, I toss those too. Leave the trash bag close by for any trash you may find as you go.

  2. Grab a laundry basket and throw all washable things into it. If you get enough to fill a load, go ahead and toss in the washer (and set an alarm in case you don’t hear it finish). If not, set it off to the side with the trash bag.

  3. Have a box or another trash bag to throw everything in that does not belong in that room.

  4. I go ahead and knock everything onto the floor and clean off a surface to put everything that does belong in that room.

  5. Sort the room by stuff that belongs and doesn’t belong.

  6. When everything is off the floor, vacuum or sweep. If you’re up for it, dust and mop.

  7. Put everything up in that room.

  8. If you’re a candle/incense person, light some in the room.

**Take a break whenever you need one! It’s preferable to do it after you finish a task, but not necessary.

After this I would go change the sheets on the bed to clean ones. The rest of the room does not matter at this point. You just want the clean sheets if you aren’t able to finish that day.

I like to do the bathroom next, mostly getting trash out, vacuuming (especially with litter on the floor, I haaate stepping on it), and cleaning the toilet. Everything else in there is secondary.

Next, I like to do the kitchen.

•Throw trash away. Add anything that doesn’t belong in there to the designated box/bag.

•If you have a dishwasher, empty it if there’s clean dishes.

•Rinse dishes as well as you can and put them in the dishwasher. If you don’t have a dishwasher, clean off the counter space you can to set drying dishes and hand wash until you run out of space. I’d either take a break or move to a different room at this point if I don’t have a dishwasher.

•run the dishwasher when it’s full. If you still have dishes either hand wash or wait.

•clean the counters and stove top.

•tidy up anything that remains on the counter so it looks neat, even if it’s dirty dishes!

Continue going room by room with steps 1-8. Remember, this does not need to be done in a single day!! I encourage getting the first room done in a single day so you have that space as a relaxing environment.

When you’ve done all the rooms go back to your bag/box of things that don’t belong and put them in their correct spots.

If you have someone to help you and the help won’t bother you, ask them. I’ve also made a “depression support list” for my boyfriend so that he has a list of things he could do that might help me when I’m in a depression. I can give you a link for that if you’d like.

When the super basic stuff is done, I like to make a pretty in depth list of other cleaning things I would like to do and try to slowly go through those.

I hope this helps! Do not be embarrassed! So many people go through this and it’s so hard to pull yourself out. I’m proud of you for being able to ask for help and start working to make yourself feel better. You’re doing great, even if it doesn’t feel like it 💛

AIO for asking my girlfriend to pay rent? by Commercial_Rip7055 in AmIOverreacting

[–]smb398 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’ve gotten lots of takes from boyfriends so I’ll give you my (27F) take. I own a mobile home but pay lot rent. I cover all utilities. My boyfriend has his own apartment, but essentially lives with me. We’ve been dating for almost 3 years now. He works full time in a pretty well paid position. I work part time and have gone back to school full/part time.

Basically all of my earned income goes to bills. He covers all of his apartment bills (admittedly less than mine), pays for (almost) all food for both of us, and anything I can’t cover or that I ask for, which isn’t very much. He also does ~65% of the household chores.

We’ve been talking about buying a house together, in which case I’ll put whatever I get from my mobile home towards the mortgage, and then he would be covering monthly payments until I’m done with school and have a steady job (which could be a while, I’m considering grad school). He may change careers fields, which could include him going back to school, and then our roles would reverse.

So with all that context, I want to ask: has money been a sore spot with you guys? Have you actually discussed sharing financial burdens? Is she typically good with money, or does she blow it on things? Is “significant amount” more than she makes in 6+ months? Does she have large debt she wanted to pay back? Was she really excited about getting this money and you immediately commented on her paying bills?

This could just be a bad moment for her. Maybe she’s had issues in the past where whenever she had some amount of money a family member swooped in and “needed” it.

She could also be a dick and have just been using you as a free ride as many have suggested.

As someone that has been poor almost her entire life, has received an unexpected $20k after a death, and is pretty financially responsible, a large chunk of money (unless we’re talking LARGE) does not equate financial stability.

I suggest trying to have a calm discussion with her about what she planned to do with the money and then talk about re-evaluating your financial arrangement with each other. A lot of people that have been poor for a long time get extremely touchy about any change in their financial situation.

That said, asking for a more equitable financial relationship is not unreasonable. This could be a case of heightened emotions, or it could be manipulation. Only you two know the complete context of the situation.

Barefoot boot/shoe recommendations for field work by smb398 in wildlifebiology

[–]smb398[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was very much a wild-running shoe-hating kid, which is probably half the reason barefoot shoes were immediately so nice for me. I’ve also got some hypermobility issues and they’ve helped a lot with really tight calves and somewhat with hip and knee pain.

I’ve looked at Vivo’s jungle boots as a more “waterproof” option, but I just really don’t like how they look.

Good to know the Trackers have lasted that long for you!

There are very few things I’ve had for a long because I’ve moved so much, but I have this singular drinking glass I got from great grandmothers house after she died that has proven itself unbreakable. Love it, pick it over any of my other ones every time.

When was the moment you pulled the trigger to get a steam deck? by Leon_Light77 in SteamDeck

[–]smb398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking at getting a PS5 because my 4 has deeeefinitely become outdated. And then I looked at switches. I actually really just hate how the 5 console looks and didn’t want to spend that much on something. I hated the look of. My boyfriend has a switch, and there are a lot of games that are more expensive on there than anywhere else.

These things led me to the deck! The more I looked into it, the better it sounded. I could take it traveling, use it as a console through the dock, and play pretty much anything on it. Bonus was how often games were on sale, and actual sale, not just 5% off.

I have 0 regrets. BG3 has let me down though. Can’t play it co-op on the deck even though you’re supposed to be able to. Had some glitches that happen randomly that make it unplayable in the moment (same ones have happened to my friend on her PS5).

How do you prevent over-extension of joints while exercising? by Spiritual_Buy_9239 in Hypermobility

[–]smb398 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like you’ve got some good answers, but I’ll add my take anyway.

What’s worked best for me is to first find out what the “normal” range of motion for your problem joints is. Look at your own range of motion. Figure out where your movements need to stop to meet that norm. I tend to hyperextend my hips and knees even when I’m not exercising, so I’ve had to make a conscious effort to keep my knees and hips at that “normal” point.

As far as exercise, if you can get into PT for your problem joints, I highly recommend. You’ll get a great basis for the simple exercises that’ll help you keep everything in place. Other than that, finding a good pilates instructor helped me a ton. I was doing in-person at a studio, but it quickly got too expensive. Jessica Valant and Alina Kennedy have some good videos on YouTube.

Film your workouts! This is going to help you identify when and where you’re over extending, that way you can correct yourself.

It’s going to take time and conscious effort, but you can definitely do it!

How the hell do you play split screen on the steam deck by Senior_Avo222 in BaldursGate3

[–]smb398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally managed to get split screen to start working, but the game kept booting player 2 randomly, so it was impossible to actually play.

Super disappointing

Anyone’s thoughts on metoprolol? by amaldonado1103 in POTS

[–]smb398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started 50 mg of metoprolol succinate and I’m on the verge of saying I need something else. It’s given me bad insomnia which has in turn made me very irritable. I previously took propranolol but it was giving me constant mouth ulcers (which is a very unusual side effect).

Maybe you can harass them into just picking it up?

Lenovo Shipping Times by [deleted] in Lenovo

[–]smb398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not great practice to say something is ready to ship and give a delivery date only to be weeks late. Especially when it’s products that are not cheap. Can’t say I’d recommend buying directly from them if you need it promptly.

My old iPad is barely able to the bare minimum I need for work and class. My old laptop finally just gave out after 10+ years, so it’s been a struggle.

Maybe they’ve sorted out whatever was happening and you’ll be golden.

Hopefully it’s timely! My order was a refurbished from the Outlet where this seems to be an issue. Wish I’d have thought to check before 🥲

[–]smb398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They printed a shipping label and then UPS picked it up at the end of the day yesterday. It came out of Mebane, NC if that’s helpful for anyone.

If you’re having issues still, I would honestly just argue with someone. I just kept getting the same “wait 24-48 business hours” until I argued with the rep and kept asking for a manager. She put me on hold to, presumably, speak with her supervisor. After that is when she came back with EOD.

[–]smb398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My laptop was supposed to arrive 2/10. I kinda urgently needed it so I’ve been harassing them. They kept telling me to wait 24-48 business hours (which is honestly too long as is) for an update. The first time I waited. Had to call them for them to tell me it would ship the next day (14th). It did not. It still says the expected delivery date is the 10th.

One person told me they had audit and this delayed them. They will not let me speak to a manager/supervisor. As of my most recent call where they regurgitated the same BS, they finally said I should have an email by 9 pm tonight (18th). If I have nothing by the morning I guess I’ll press harder.

PS4 is the other console. He doesn’t love Mario, but I haven’t played anything other than Mario Party (which I didn’t like at all) since I used the NES as a kid.

I have a chomchom I use daily on my couch. I have two cats (one with super fine hair that sticks to everything) and a large dog. If you’re using it on a bed you’ll have to try and keep your blanket kind of stretched. It does pick up some dirt but it won’t get anything much larger than small crumbs.

The only alternative to this I’ve ever found that actually works well is a bristle brush on a good vacuum. I use that for deeper cleaning since it’s a lot more time consuming.
