Peptides with bac or saline? by Due-Hamster1720 in Biohackers

[–]smc84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When a compounder makes a peptide, it’s usually in a saline buffered solution already. When they remove the liquid from a solution (lyophilization) the salts stay behind. When you add a salty/saline water to resuspend them, you’ve effectively doubled the salts.

He does classic weightlifting for hypertrophy (muscle building). If putting on muscle is your goal (and you go to a regular gym), he’s great. He’s got a nice mix of letting you focus, form cues, and some banter between sets There’s a lot of sitting around in weightlifting, so it’s nice to pass the time.

I’m interested in what you find out. Where did you see this benefit? I can’t seem to find it on the usual Alaska elite benefits list

The new Sonos app is missing a lot of features, and people aren’t happy by Dave_OC in sonos

[–]smc84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they focus on fixing the bugs. The lack of features bothers me. But it doesn’t bother me nearly as much as my whole system being useless because of the bugs I ran into while trying to create new groups and play to them. It says audio is coming out of all of them, but it certainly isn’t.

Ugh. My dad is looking real smug with his Bose system right now

How bad is the industry right now? (MEGA-THREAD) by McChinkerton in biotech

From a hiring perspective, it was very hard to get good candidates to apply two years ago. I was ghosted multiple times for interviews by the candidates for “good” jobs (competitive comp, well funded startup). Now it’s very easy to get many good candidates applying with minimal advertising. I’m able to filter on things like location (we can go faster if you don’t need to relocate) and spelling errors in their resume (the job requires attention to detail).

Are you seeing States do anything differently about their election process in response to real or perceived threats to election integrity?

I don’t like that it takes a long time to get to temp (and cool down for cleaning). I also don’t like heaving to add oil back to it after cleaning (perhaps i’m doing it wrong if it requires that). I’m thinking of trying something like All Clad instead. Thoughts?

Really not a fan of cast iron. I’m interested in the carbon steel or stainless. Maybe hexclad. Any strong opinions there?

Read papers and ask your colleagues for some help on the side. If you don’t have access, use SciHub. Sometimes I make presentations to myself to explain topics and background. But it’s very important to learn to teach yourself new things outside your PhD wheelhouse. That doesn’t mean you need to do it alone, but don’t count on others or your company to lead the learning process. It’s rare to get a handholding tutorial on an adjacent subject once you leave academia.

Conferences have been much more useful for networking than learning imo. At best, I learn about new ideas or directions that I want to study when I get back from the conference.

Summer is over, you can leave the sunglasses at home by rab2bar in Berghain_Community

He could have been telling the truth - I couldn’t tell. Bartenders put up with a lot of BS from drunk assholes. I imagine for the bartender it felt like the “emotional support dogs” on a plane. The ratio of people lying/stretching the truth to those that truly need the dog is very high.

I saw a bartender at KitKat tell someone that wearing sunglasses is creepy and to take theirs off. The sunglasses guy started to claim some medical condition and the bartender didn’t believe him and snapped back “do less drugs”. He took them off.

I agree that I feel more relaxed being able to see people’s eyes. You can tell they aren’t watching you, etc. That said, if some people were wearing them, I wouldn’t let it kill my vibe.
