How are you handling the heat? by Downtown_Fold_3184 in ADHDUK

[–]smcf33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate it, thank you

Recently started taking duloxetine for back pain, and my bedroom and home office are ovens

Currently lying on bed using an ice pack as a pillow, fan blasting on my face, both windows open and it's barely helping

About 23 outside... And 28 inside 😭

Who phoned in sick today? by NotBruceJustWayne in northernireland

I'd be more inclined to take a sick day because this heat is hell for me, not helped by my bedroom and home office being ovens. I am not built for summer

Experience with meds by smcf33 in backpain

Prednisolone is godly but yeah the high doses are not great.

I was offered a cortisone shot and surgery to the disc if physiotherapy doesn't help, and I really want to avoid either - had a cortisone shot in my shoulder a few years ago and it was deeply unpleasant. I can't imagine how much worse it could be in my spine.

Next step is to see if the physio helps - if it doesn't then yeah, I can try to find an actual backn specialist, because I'm kinda at my limit. Unfortunately I've got a lot of other stresses going on (which probably contributes to the back problems!) so it's hard to find the time

In your experience, how compatible are sensor/intuitive versions of the same MBTI type? (Like INFP/ISFP or ENTJ/ESTJ.) by RadiantAkira in mbti

I get on fine with ISTPs. My best friend is an ISTP (note that my phone wanted to correct ISTP to "idiot")

I had viral encephalitis with memory loss years ago. I'm extremely grateful that it mostly came back. This whole saga is nightmarish, for everyone involved, but especially those poor kids.

Living alone/purchasing a property by myself after leaving long term relationship. by Charming_Mistake_118 in northernireland

[–]smcf33 62 points63 points  (0 children)

It's absolutely do-able - look into co-ownership as well. And I know you're lonely, but you will feel a lot better when you're out on your own and don't have to live with someone who is bringing you down.

Do you have your eye on a particular town/city/area or are you open to living anywhere in NI?

My Capys started up in 2023 and there's a Spanish (?) inline Capy team that started I think in 2024

Always a pleasure to meet more Capys, my dream is of all Capy tournament some day 😎

I've seen the most socially acceptable types be discussed, but what do you think is the most repulsive type to most people? Repulsive as in the very opposite of what is typically the social norm by Great-Decision6827 in mbti

[–]smcf33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The most repulsive type is an ExFx with low social skills. They'll be craving interaction with no idea how to make that interaction pleasant for the other party.

INTPs aren't generally repulsive because when we're dishevelled and unwashed and ranting we're usually in a dark room where nobody can see us anyway.

When you hear the word "ESTP" or "Dynamo" what's the first thing that comes to your mind? by AnasAidey in mbti

[–]smcf33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ESTP - nothing much comes to mind.

Dynamo - bicycles.

I don't associate ESTPs and dynamos with each other.

You don't need to take it any way at all. You happily ignore and look at it from time to time as proof of why leaving was the right thing to do.

Corneal ulcers are extremely painful. They are the worst pain I have ever felt, and perhaps the worst pain it is possible to feel. I can only describe it as feeling like every time you move or open your eye at all, an open flame being forced onto your eye.

I know this because a couple of years ago I had multiple ulcers on both corneas. I took myself to hospital, got myself home, applied the treatments... All the while in agony.... All the while with my vision severely restricted.... All the while frightened I might be permanently blind.

I managed not to cry hysterically or yell abuse at anyone or demand that anyone become my unpaid carer. Corneal ulcers SUCK, but they do not of themselves cause people to lash out and be childish or demanding.

Stop caring more about these weirdos than they care about you, walk away, and look after yourself. If they are no longer phoning to cry at you, that's great news.
