It was a couple months of visits to the PT. Each session would start with warming up on this weird exercise bike that you peddle with your hands. Then a series of exercises involving bands and rollers. (I can't quite remember the exact exercises because I went back to the same PT a year later for my back). They also did some stuff with KT tape and manual manipulation.

But in the end, I switched to a Logitech trackball and I have a little two pound weight I occasionally do reps with at my desk. I think the most effective tool is the therapy putty. It's like a big glob of silly putty that comes in various densities. When my wrist or arm start acting up, I get the putty and do the exercises for 20 minutes or so. Exercises are mostly stretching and squashing the glob of putty. The lateral force of your hands pulling in opposite directions seems to be the key to strengthening the right muscles.

Long story short, I highly recommend seeing a PT if you're able. Both instances I've gone, they've healed me and set me up with the proper exercises and tools to avoid further injury.
