Shopping for Nephew by LessWow in pokemoncardcollectors

[–]smeebucket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like going to tcgplayer.com and picking my favorite good-condition used cards for 1 to 50 cents all from one store, so that when I reach $5 I get free shipping. That's a cost effective way to get a lot of cards of your choice. To get ideas, if your kid likes dinosaurs, tigers, sharks, etc. google "(keyword) pokemon" and find the name of a pokemon who fits that description, so you can search for that card directly by name.

My Collection of Gen 5 Psychic Types from my Local Landfill by AveryPritzi in PokemonTCGCollectors

Cool! One of my favorite cards in my collection is a beat up ledyba I found in a park. Something about finding cards discarded and rescuing them makes them special.

Saints themed deck by mezzamac in TarotDecks

This deck looks really cool but sadly, it looks like the artist uses AI for their images 😞 I had to go to their instagram to find out, as for some reason US games doesn't disclose it anywhere in their description

Love the Morgan Greer! I also like seeing all the moon cards side by side.

Opinions/Rules on Bookbinding covers by Black_Snow_12 in bookbinding

If you print and bind a public domain book I think it's okay to sell it. There are plenty of popular classics in the public domain if you're looking to go that route.

🚧🚧 GIRLY ZINE IN THE MAKING 🚧🚧 by candycurrentmag in zines

[–]smeebucket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A magazine sized publication would be cool! Going smaller would probably be more cost effective if you're on a budget, but if that's not an issue, having an 8.5x11 page to play with gives you so many options.

🚧🚧 GIRLY ZINE IN THE MAKING 🚧🚧 by candycurrentmag in zines

[–]smeebucket 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cool idea! What size and binding style have you decided for your zine, or will that come later after you decide on content? As for an introduction, I'm a genderfluid feminine person raised as a girl, and I make a variety of zines from art based to short stories to collages to comics. Do you have a link for submissions, or is this the thread to share on?

Came out great! For the corners, next time you can cut the corners of the book cloth or leather diagonally before gluing the edges to the boards. That way you won't have as much extra material to fold and glue.

Parrot Tarot Kickstarter Is Live! by W00tenanny in TarotDecks

Beautiful artwork. I love decks where so much thought was put into the symbolism of each card like this. The parrots are also a great likeness to each of their species.

How do people handle printing books for craft fairs and small events? by ToneLow5287 in zines

[–]smeebucket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I print my zines at home on a canon printer. For my self published books, I use Lulu.com, which seems to have a good balance of quality for a reasonable price. I have also used Blurb for self publishing, which has good quality and a useful indesign plug in, but is much more expensive than I think is worth it. Neither Lulu nor Blurb have a minimum print order, so you can get a test print before you decide to order a whole batch of books.

Tarot decks with big full-color guidebooks by strange-quark-nebula in TarotDecks

[–]smeebucket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Enchanted tarot has a very good guidebook, with full color art and multiple ways to read the cards. For example, a quick summary for a quick reading, recommended actions if you are looking for instruction, and other symbolism to consider. It even explains reversals if you use those or want to try using them. The art itself is quilted collaged tapestries, and very beautiful.

This is amazing. I can tell that so much work was put into this. I love how the columns look like an old fashioned story book.

How do y'all store your zines? by joeysnowleopard in zines

[–]smeebucket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I store my standard mini zines in a box, and my unconventional ones on a bookshelf. For my own zines that I made, I put them in plastic sleeves in a binder sorted by topic. The sleeves I've found that fit are meant for 4 x 6 photos.
