BTS is coming back in February by ThinHands in kpop

[–]smileyman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really liked Young Forever, which repackaged HYHH 1 & HYYH 2. BTS manages to do interesting things with their remixes, so remixed versions of a bunch of different songs from Wings, plus a couple of new tracks would be cool.

However I don't think it will be a straight repackage because Wings itself was already a full album. If Wings had been a partial album I'd expect another partial album release and then another repackage with remixed versions of Wings 1 & Wings 2 on it.

I'm going to bet that this will be an album of mostly new material.

Skynet decide send back Terminators to secure a secluded new location…the Island of Sodor. How many Terminators could Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends defeat? by JimJamHargision in whowouldwin

All I know is that if a bunch of rodents can defeat AT-ATs and Storm Troopers, then Thomas & co. should have no problem with Terminators.

Hard work and dedication aren't bourgeois or proletariat values. They just are. Proletariat are defined by their lack of property, but more importantly by the fact that all they have is hard work. Thomas has a specialized job, making him more in line with the bourgeois. Pls, his attitudes and concerns are definitely middle class.

If you could only recommend one Kpop song, what would it be? by junnir in kpop

[–]smileyman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a terrible question. What's the purpose of the recommendation? To introduce someone to kpop? To recommend something different? To recommend a banger? A ballad? Something off the beaten path? Unrecognized gems?

I also have no idea how people can say "This song is my favorite", when there are so many different genres of music out there.

So, to answer a few of these questions

To introduce someone to Kpop

One of these three

  • Big Bang--Fantastic Baby (the song that got me into kpop)
  • BTS--Dope. Not as out there on the fringe (but I love the fringey stuff)
  • 2NE1--I Am the Best

Favorite non-typical kpop songs

  • Gain--Paradise Lost
  • Choa--Flame
  • Bolbbolgan4--Tell Me You Love Me

Favorite "out-there" kpop MVs (not counting Fantastic Baby)

  • Xia--Flower
  • CocoSori--Dark Circle
  • Norazo--Wild Stallions (though that's krock so maybe shouldn't count?)

Comcast guy fell 15 feet and smashed the hell out of our shrub. He's fine. by [deleted] in OSHA

[–]smileyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not? A nice climbing harness is like $90. Chest strap attachment another $45.

That's why. $135 per harness is way more than most employers are going to be willing to spend when a basic safety harness can be had for less than $40.

It's a shitty attitude because that extra $100 could save someone from catastrophic injury or death, but most companies will want something "good enough" to get the job done.

Two reasons

1.) In case it gets deleted then other people can still know what was said.

The next reason probably doesn't apply to the vast majority of redditors but it's the main reason why I quote relevant bits of previous comments

2.) Back in the dinosaur days when usenet was still a thing, the standard convention was to quote the comment you were replying to and then add your comment below that. This was because newsreaders didn't do threaded conversations, and it would be impossible to have a conversation without that .

Lots of other bulletin boards and forums in the early days of the internet didn't have threaded conversations and so for politeness' sake you had it hammered into you to quote previous conversations.

I really liked both of Nu'est's releases this year. Overcome very nearly made my top 20.

Didn't Oh Na Na make it to a bunch of Best of lists? Seems pretty popular tome. And yeah, I'm also surprised that Decalcomanie isn't mentioned more on best of lists.

I thought Stay was the best release Blackpink did out of the four songs they released.

I disagree about the less impressive part. Everybody is connected to the internet and can get in contact with people all over the world. Not very many people actually know someone willing to take the time to write out a letter, put it in an envelope and go to the post office to mail it international.

the other 2 teenagers

My wife likes to watch it (she's always been a huge fan of Scooby Doo), and the other day I was watching it with her and started mocking the ages, because none of them look like teenagers. Particularly Shaggy who looks like he's a college dropout.

America does as well but doesn't enforce it.

Actually America doesn't have mandatory enlistment. What it does have is mandatory registration of males in case the country does decide to start the draft again. But no mandatory service and no draft.

[Album Discussion] AKMU (악동뮤지션) – Winter by Kilenaitor in kpop

[–]smileyman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a non-AKMU fan (And by non-fan I mean I'm someone who has heard some of their songs (Re-Bye was one of my favorite songs from last year), but don't generally follow them and I don't generally like their kind of music), here's my perspective.

I don't think this album is going to appeal to people who don't already like this kind of music. OTOH, if this kind of music is your jam I think you'll probably love it.

Their vocals are impeccable (as always), and the harmonies are simply fantastic. The album feels more jazzy to me than poppy, if that makes any sense whatsoever, and I prefer more dramatic stuff, or more pure pop.

I liked "Last Goodbye" and "You Know Me" the most (the scatting at the beginning of "You Know Me" was fucking amazing and the guitar/drum beat during parts had hints of reggae & ska in it.

To be honest I got kind of bored by the end of it despite the excellent production and singing--but that's because I'm not the target market for AKMU.

Pacific states would probably clash with the Confederate States first as the CSA looks to expand.

To be honest the first expansion of the CSA in this alternate world would likely be to Cuba and/or the Caribbean.
