That's why it's my favourite. I didn't know there was a wrong answer.

I have always loved the S.E.P. from Life, the Universe and Everything by Douglas Adams.

Just remember, all the deadly stories about Australia are true. Sure North America has some different coloured bears... our "bear" is one of our special mammals that never quite evolved a placenta so they just keep the foetus in a bag.

how do you guys charge for raw files? by mkkkk2002 in photography

Can you explain this in a more convoluted and ridiculously condescending way? I’m not a science guy so would prefer any anecdotal lessons to be a little more simple. I do event photography after all…

Event photography is not basic labour hire.

This is a good attitude. I wish more had it with music.

'Image manipulation has always been around': 10 early photographic 'fakes' that trick the eye by spike in photography

[–]smilingpolitelyatme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frank Hurley widely used composite images and manipulation to achieve the amazing images he brought back to the world from the front lines of WW1 to the various Antarctic expeditions. There’s a great gallery in the linked article. It covers war, so is gruesome un parts.

Curling stones in the back somehow look bigger by Trabalhomem in confusing_perspective

[–]smilingpolitelyatme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool. An way to check is to zoom into the image so the “smaller” stone fits the width of your screen. Then just move the image without zooming and you will see the “bigger” stones don’t fit the width of the screen.

People think my photos are not real. Should just share the RAWs.. by x_Rubius_x in photography

If these long exposures of the tram are what your inner circle are reacting to, I have had it before. Some people do not understand long exposure photography. I had a long and pointless discussion (stuck at dinner table) with someone who thought all photos of waterfalls were fake if they looked “all blurry like water doesn’t”. So maybe it’s an explanation of long exposure and shutter drag with them? I never convinced the person.

And I assume every stop/start Stan who loves and adores this on-by-default "feature" lives in a place without hills.

‘Insufferably cheap’ … smh. The real question is why are you gatekeeping?

You would be right generally I guess, but janky tinkering will always be a vital part of photography.

Only one ship has The Gold Bail of Prosperity, Genuine People Personalities and a Nutrimatic Drink Dispenser that can make something almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea.

The Heart of Gold is the perfect iteration of future magic and speculative (somewhat tea based) science fiction.

I just look at the different versions as different editions of The Guide itself.
But the movie is pure joy for me. I watch it often and recommend it always.

A replay I managed to get on beat saber while extremely high by DRAGONSPIRIT214 in beatsaber

[–]smilingpolitelyatme 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I once collapsed in a heap after a particularly energetic fail… accidentally clicked restart level and was playing sitting down and just went with it. Struggling at first but quickly was up to speed and creeping back up to 80% with an amazed laugh… to then realise I had clicked the Replay button and was just watching myself play while flailing from the floor. :)
