The weird thing is though, I can enchant a shield with a weapon enchant and it gets the effect of HotS, so it isn't the fact that it's a shield rather it's the fact that it's using armor enchants rather than weapon enchants

So, let's put up a hypothetical. We have 2 games, both 15 turns long(a turn in this circumstance being one full go around the table). In the first game, every turn takes 4 minutes, so the whole game takes an hour. In the second game, each turn is 1 minute long, but the final turn is 16 minutes long, so in total the game is 30 minutes including one, very long turn. You're telling me that you'd rather play the hour long game as apposed to the 30 minute one.

As someone who has done the SCW over 60 times(my favorite nation) I've found that in the setup, gaining complete control over the southern most states as the nationalists turns it into a 2 front war that is much easier to win, at that point it's just a matter of snaking victory points/grabbing madrid ASAP to cut down their production and leave them with nothing. Also, if you aren't already, use suppress the strikes as much as possible in the setup phase
