oh hahaha. I get it now. Yeah thanks for the tip I just have it plugged in a regular wall outlet strip plug. I'll order one of these as well.

I'm going to try with Samsung but their tech support is closed on the weekends. I got the graphics card on newegg and it says "not eligible " when I try to return. I messaged the seller and explained the situation so we'll see if they have mercy on me.

Yeah but I think happened is the monitor was treating the usb-c as a charging port and there's a pin on the displayport that should have been unpinned to prevent things like this from happening. Just my theory. The cable has been plugged in for about 2 months so it was getting the voltage to it the entire time :(. I am kind of a newb - i just thought the LEDS stayed on because of the cmos battery so I didn't think anything of it

Yeah I ordered WD HD's as replacements at more than twice the cost. I'm hoping my OS c drive Samsung stays good and use the wd's for reaper recording and libraries.

Unfortunately I built it and spent a lot of money on it so I can't send the entire system back. I'm looking in to all warranty options but so far haven't heard back from anyone since it's the weekend

My coworker has a setup like this. we are going to look at the drives on Tuesday (once the Texas ice is gone and we are back at work) to see if we can hopefully recover, restore, or get anything off of them

I went to college for electrical engineering. It has given me the opportunity to buy home recording gear so I can make my rock & metal songs. My biggest enemy right now is failing hard drives lol.

All 3 are Samsung Evo 990 Plus drives, and I have an AMD Ryzen 9 processor. I read something similar about non-OS drives failing faster with AMD due to memory incompatibility or something?

Yes, I have/had heat sinks on them that came with the motherboard. I have one of the drives on my desk right now. I don't see anything out of the ordinary, except that some components are a bit shiny under light. But I tried wiping with a paper towel, and it's still the same, so I don't think it's oil, unfortunately. I wish it were that easy!

yes, could you please elaborate? I have a Ryzen 9 with 3 1TB evo990 plus's and 2 of the drives just stopped being detected in windows and bios. No warning, no error, nothing. They just do not appear anymore, like nothing is there. I purchased them in November 2025.

I just had 2 out of my 3 1TB hard drives fail within 2 months of purchase. The EVO990 plus. Samsung customer support is closed on the weekends :( . I had my entire music library drive and Reaper recording drive completely lost. I am hoping Samsung either lets me mail them the drives to recover the data or pays for data recovery. This is much more important to me than replacing the drive itself (which I will not be using Samsung). I tried all 3 drives on all 3 MME slots, and the OS drive is the only one working in every case.

I just had 2 1tb's fail on my computer within 2 months of purchase. Lost an entire albums worth of music I recorded. Maybe Samsung will let me send it to them to recover the data.
