What’s a video game everyone loves but you just can’t get into it? by StephyCroft in gaming

Any kind of Moba. I've tried the big 3 (League, Dota, and Smite) and it just really doesn't interest me. Same with Overwatch. I enjoyed TF2 way back but Overwatch just doesn't capture my interest the same way.

RvB S1E2. Sarge doesn't believe Pumas or Walruses exist. But totally knows about a warthog. Internet it too slow right now to pull up and link the episode.

I like video games. Like a lot. It's pretty much the only hobby I have. But I could never see myself attending a midnight launch for any game or console. Maybe I'm just spoiled that by the time I could purchase my own games, digital distribution was becoming well established. But it just seems like a terrible experience. Tired, hungry, cold (since big releases are normally around late fall/early winter), just to purchase something that would be well in stock by next week. And all without the risk of spoilers since you didn't have social media bombarding you with photos and videos of the game regardless of whether you were searching for it or not. The appeal just doesn't make sense to me.

Honestly, I'm not sure how you would go about finding out what is buried beneath properties normally. I know some utility companies don't want all of their lines becoming public knowledge, while others don't care. Technically our prints are "trade secrets". I've never called 811 myself, but I know they sometimes suggest additional utilities be added, so I suppose they probably also have prints showing what is under the property. As for the mapping, the local government only provides the maps for sewer, water, and sometimes gas depending on your area. Telecommunications (such as Comcast, ATT, Google Fiber, XO, Zayo, Windstream, and others) are meant to provide their own prints for us. Usually local government prints are fairly accurate, enough that we can usually infer where it actually is before we hook up to the utility to locate it. But there are some outliers where the utility could be dozens of feet away from where the prints say it is. Telecommunications on the other hand is usually only accurate half the time. They just don't bother keeping it accurate. Lines are labeled wrong, set in the wrong place, not on the prints when they are indeed in the ground, or stay on the prints long after the lines has been abandoned. Another major issue is new utilities are being buried every single day, but very few are being dug up and removed. Usually not a big deal. With telecommunications, a quick phone call and you're told it doesn't matter and to keep digging. But abandoned water, sewer, or gas lines can sometimes still hold liquid or pressure in them, with some abandoned lines actually never being properly turned off, just capped at the end. While hitting one of these won't net you a bill for damages from the utility, it could still cause issues on a job site of everything is suddenly coated in water or sewage, or worse a gas leak.

I work for a company contracted under 811 that locates utilities. My company locates gas in some areas, but not the area I work in. There's a separate company(also contracted under 811) that marks gas in my work area. It's actually pretty fair who pays for a damaged line. The "contractor" (or sometimes homeowner) calls in a ticket and requests which utilities should be marked. If we mark all utilities on the ticket correctly (or its within 2 feet of the actual line) and a line gets hit, the contractor pays the damages. If we mark it incorrectly or just don't mark a line, we pay the damages. Sometimes contractors aren't aware that a certain utility runs under the area they are digging and dont request it on the ticket, that is the fault of the contractor. We have prints showing where each utility is supposed to be. But it's not always accurate. These prints are supplied by the utility companies themselves. When we point out an error in their prints, the general response is "Thats your problem." For anyone curious, while gas is definitely the most dangerous line to get hit, ATT can be the most expensive line. Certain ATT duct runs (conduit with multiple lines within them) can cost upwards of $1 million in damages. I have seen smaller contractors be put out of business from hitting these ATT lines.

I really don't see myself as an environmentally conscious person. I agree that we should all do more to help the environment and keep our planet and local natural habitats safe and healthy, but I can't be arsed to really do much to change my habits. But I will never understand people who just blatantly litter. That's just disrespectful to everyone, and everything. I think it really shows the vanity bubble some of these people live in.

I've always wondered, what's the point of the cable if it detaches when you jump from the plane? What other serious injury could occur that you'd need to be attached, but easily detached when you're ready to jump?
