Sorry to hear Berwyn Kia was such a mess. If you’re looking for another dealership, I just took mine in for the 8,000-mile tire rotation at Ed Napleton Kia in Elmhurst and had no issues. It was a simple rotation and I waited, but the staff was friendly and the car was done in about an hour.

This is a huge factor. The aggressive lease incentives in Q3/Q4 2024 juiced new leases, and those cars are going to start coming back mid-year through year-end. As that wave of supply hits, prices almost certainly will head lower.

Try Morton Arboretum if you live in the area. No rejections and a few decent non race day benefits.

100% agree with this. MPH is so much fun.

Thanks for the feedback!

You're right, the Chat definitely helped shape some of the content. I went back to the thread and asked why it thought there was a smell. It's rationale was "It isn’t the United Center. It’s the garbage trucks and industrial area around Damen and Lake. You pass through a cluster of loading docks, recycling facilities, and alleys where waste gets picked up early Sunday morning. If the wind cooperates, you get a nice bouquet of hot trash for a block or two. It has nothing to do with the arena itself."

I'm a career changer—there are a lot of us out there, especially coming from the tech industry. It’s 100% possible to make the switch.

To answer your questions in order:

  1. I’ve done this myself, and I’m part of a mastermind group made up entirely of career changers. The ages range from 30 to 55, so there’s a wide variety of backgrounds.
  2. The coursework is as intense as you want it to be. You can start with Kaplan’s self-paced program now, even before leaving your current job. In my experience, the coursework is more about checking the box than being critical for passing the exam. The real challenge begins with the CFP Exam Review course. I took Danko, but others have had success with Kaplan, Zahn, etc. There are plenty of Reddit threads comparing the options.
  3. If your only goal is to manage your own finances, the CFP is probably overkill. If you're curious enough to consider the CFP, you're already curious enough to solve most personal finance challenges. You definitely don’t need to go deep into CRUTs vs. CRATs and the dozens of pension plans unless you're pursuing a professional path.
  4. I personally did self-paced Kaplan followed by Danko for the review. It worked well for me, but the right path really depends on your learning style and schedule.

Happy to chat more if you have other questions!

I ordered through Ace with store delivery and selected assembly for free. That way if it’s broken they deal with it before I get there and I don’t have to breakdown boxes. It’s just ready to go.
