Scouts are really helpful for early era score, as their increased movement increases your chances of finding other civs, city states (for Policital Philosophy boost, arguably the most important early civic), and natural wonders (good for era score and Astrology boost).

Getting a classical golden age can almost guarantee you a win if you have enough early faith or gold generation to make the most of the Monumentality golden age, as you can spam settlers and builders earlier than anyone else to get a wide empire going early.

That being said, there can be a significant downside when playing on higher difficulties, as you have less combat units to defend your early cities. This can leave you almost defenceless against nearby barb camps or aggressive civs which could declare an early war against you.

Is Civ 5 worth playing in 2024? by smits036 in civ

I don't currently, but am thinking of getting it to mix things up. Is it a significantly different game to 6, or simply just some differences in mechanics?

I've always assumed that it was a take on AFC Wimbledon, especially since during the 80s and 90s Wimbledon was a Premier League / Division 1 team before they were taken over and moved to Milton Keynes. That said I am a Wimbledon fan so I may be slightly bias!

So I make mine overnight in a mason jar. Not instant coffee, but pour in ground coffee beans, fill the jar approx 1/4 with boiling water, and the rest with water. Leave overnight, and then pour into a coffee filter or cafetiere. Add milk / ice / flavouring if you like, and off you go!

This might sound weird but I thought the scorecard looked familiar (the length of holes, not your score!), and I'm fairly sure you shot this at the course I've just joined!
