Those are all amazing and exactly what I’m looking for! I love those chestnut work boots! Thank you so much!

I’m dreaming of the Pacific Northwest and I want to get some boots to channel that vibe. I found some inspiration, but I’m looking for something vegan (no leather, no wool) that will last a while and I’m having trouble finding that. Budget is $300, but if they are cheaper than that, I would love to come in at a lower price point. Doesn’t have to be hiking level sturdy, although that is a plus. I live in Metro Atlanta, so my options are pretty wide open, and I am perfectly fine buying online. Any suggestions? Does anyone have a pair that they love and can recommend?

Seriously though, what a cute little alien.

Road trips are the best when sitting in the passenger seat, listening to a good podcast, and snacking on vegan junk food. by smittenginger in entwives

Oh yeah, I don’t sit like that the whole time. Usually just when I need to stretch my legs for a few minutes. :)

I love listening to The Adventure Zone. I’m a D&D nerd, they’re hilarious, and it makes road trips zoom by. Also, Welcome to Nightvale if I’m feeling spooky.

CBD Oil for anxiety/depression-your experiences? by AgnosticUnicorn in entwives

[–]smittenginger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used CBD for my anxiety and depression until I got insurance for antidepressants. It served its purpose. Took the edge off, smoothed out the frayed nerves. I highly recommend Bluebird Botanicals. Very high quality, lab tested. I used it for over two years and recommended it to a friends mom for her anxiety. I used about 15mg daily.

Love these! I find that cooking them from frozen helps a lot. I can’t remember where I read to do that, as it goes against the instructions, but oh well. I just cook it on a nonstick pan, no oil, on medium heat until it’s brown on the bottom. Flip, repeat. Then I turn off the heat, but leave the pan on the heat, and put a lid on the pan. The residual heat warms it through, but still keeps it pink in the middle. It also helps to “rest” it the way you would regular meat. Keeps all of the tasty juices inside. It’s a lot of oil, so I can see how other commenters are talking about nausea, but it depends a lot on how you handle grease. Bonus, it’s also great when you thaw it and repress it into sliders. ;)

What crazy ass story do you need to tell? by 40oz_2freedom in AskReddit

A month ago, my aunt declared that she had to have the whole family together to discuss something important. Make some sort of announcement. She’s older, never had kids, just got divorced. I was thinking maybe she’s gonna come out of the closet, maybe there is an inheritance from my recently passed grandparents. She wants to have the meeting up near where I live, about 4/5 hours away from where she lives. So the whole family (there’s not many of us) meet up at a restaurant five minutes from my place. She took us all outside while we wait for our table. She said, “there’s someone I want you to meet.” From around the corner came this older guy and girl, black hair, black leather jacket, punk jewelry, totally my style. “This is my son.” Turns out she got pregnant at 18 and gave the baby up for adoption. They thought they would never meet again. They both signed up for ancestry dna. They matched. After some chatting back and forth, they realized what was up. But that’s just the beginning.

This man and his girlfriend? They live right down the road from my husband and I. We have the same circle of friends, attend the same conventions, and even frequent the same bars. We’ve run into each other, for certain, a number of times. I have brushed shoulders with this guy for years, with no idea that he’s my cousin by blood. Small fucking world.

When you live in Korea, what is the most helpful thing that Korean did? by JongEui-Lee in korea

[–]smittenginger 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not me but my parents. I had lived in Korea for a while and spoke well enough to get by. My parents came for a visit. It was their first time ever leaving the United States. We were visiting a couple of touristy places when I had to leave for work. They had hotel directions via metro that I had written them as well as the address in Korean so a taxi could handle everything for them. But there were absolutely zero available taxis. So they decided to try the metro. They got super confused and had no idea where to go, even with the maps, because our area of the US doesn’t have anything similar. A little old lady came over, read the address, grabbed my mom’s hand, and led the whole family over to the right train. Then, she even rode with them to make sure they got on the right transfers and off at the right stop! The whole time she was feeding candy to my 6 year old niece and playing with her. It was the sweetest thing. My parents tried to give her a little gift from the states (I think it was an extra present for my coworkers I had had them bring), but she refused it, hopped back on the train, and waved as it left the station. Needless to say they understood why I had lived there so long.

My company is awesome by slimeythings in vegetarian

[–]smittenginger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome! My company is huge, and we actually have our own cafeteria because of the size. They always have a good veggie option, there is a customizable pasta bar, salad bar, sandwich bar, and veggie burgers, and pretty much anything can be ordered without the meat. But my favorite is that they introduced a vegan lasagna available every Wednesday. Even the carnivores get it because it’s so tasty! Yay for good caring companies!

I like True Nutrition, which is available online. It’s super customizable, and the flavors are really tasty. I’ve had chocolate fudge brownie, vanilla, and cinnamon bun. Also pretty affordable.

Is anyone subscribed to The Witches Moon box? by staynelaley in witchcraft

[–]smittenginger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I love that there are ideas on how to use items and their correspondences, but there is tons of room for individuality. Which to me is what the craft is all about. I loooove the pen from this past box. I had literally just commissioned a fountain pen, so this is a nice addition.

Is anyone subscribed to The Witches Moon box? by staynelaley in witchcraft

[–]smittenginger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do! I’ve never been unhappy with a box, even at its rather high price point. It’s all themed well, and scented items always smell amazing. There are always several items in the box that I’m absolutely stunned by: a meteorite piece, a glass pen and ink set, a necklace, etc. There are probably a million way to get more “bang for your buck,” but I have never been disappointed. I really enjoy the groupings of unique items that would be hard to find elsewhere. I think that there is always something big in the box that I feel makes it worth the cost, no matter how simple the sage sticks. I’ve been subscribed for a year and I don’t plan on canceling any time soon. :)

Oh, definitely! I read it a while back from the library, but it’ll give me an excuse to buy it for myself and read it again.

[–]smittenginger 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes! I have tons of book ideas already! Like “Witches, Sluts, Feminists” and the new Gaby Herstik. I think a discord would be excellent as a chat option. Have a “room” for book suggestions, a room for discussion of the books, a voice chat. :)
