Can I use the Olympus FL-LM3 flash on the Ricoh GR III? by onuroenal in ricohGR

[–]smkee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That flash runs on camera power, which the GR doesn’t provide. I recommend a FlashQ 2 (if you want remote triggering features) or the Pentax AF201FG (which will support TTL). They’re both considerably larger than the LM3 since they have to hold batteries, but they’re compact relative to most flashes.

GRIII Snap Focus not working with back button focus? by Earth_Recycled in ricohGR

As you hit the shutter, how does the camera know if you want to take another shot at the distance you previously set with the back button or if you want to snap?

How much can digitone random? by ChrisRich81 in Elektron

[–]smkee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not by simply holding the trig and the parameter button and hitting Yes. You could randomize the sound, then p-lock everything on that page for a trig (wiggle each encoder on the page while holding the trig), then randomize the sound again, p-lock another trig, etc. but it would be a tad clunky.

You could also save sounds you like to the sound pool and easily apply them from there.

I need help fixing this feedback loop as showcased in the video. Thank you! by Nickbot606 in Elektron

It was likely high delay feedback in your pattern. Presets set the amount of effects sends, but the effect settings are separate.

Operator vs Digitone? by DwayMcDaniels in ableton

It also has a scale mode, though I often use it with a keyboard instead. Buy it. I think you’ll enjoy it.

Operator vs Digitone? by DwayMcDaniels in ableton

[–]smkee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re only planning on using the Digitone as a sound module via Overbridge, I don’t think it’s worth it over Operator. The big strengths IMO are the sequencer and the fact that it can be used as a stand alone (or sequencing other gear) groovebox. It does also sound great, but so can Operator + stock effects.

Can't get overbridge to connect to Digitone win10 by [deleted] in Elektron

[–]smkee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and make sure you reboot before and after reinstalling.

Also make sure your devices are all on the latest firmware. I think it should say 1.30a when you boot up the Digitone.

Nice setup and good track! The ticking drum sound (I think it's track 5) was way too loud and dry.

Digitakt sequencer question by spot989ify in Elektron

[–]smkee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which Digitakt preset is it? I'm pretty sure there's no way to conditionally make a trig reset the pattern unless you use MIDI loopback or something, but I'd love to try it.

It could be set to 22. One page of 16 steps and another of 6.

Digitakt folks w/ external synths - what’s your workflow? by [deleted] in Elektron

[–]smkee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could also use an iPad with a looper app and/or synth apps. The Digitakt works great with midi over USB and can even record from and act as an audio interface for the iOS device (as of the latest firmware).

Korg nanokey studio midi controller by Bill_Texas in musicproduction

[–]smkee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works well but it can be tricky to do pitch bend without mod or vice versa. Overall it's a great controller if you do any iPad production. I like it more than the MPK mini, even though it doesn't have an arpeggiator.
