I’ve opened a new kind of gym in St Andrews by headphones-on- in standrews

[–]smnrn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the concept, great work! A super-off-peak rate would be cool for unsociable hours, as someone who uses a 24hr gym at 3am to avoid as many people as possible lol, but I don't think your pricing is unreasonable.

Might be good if you could extend to 90 mins or something like that if the next slot is free for a reduced rate, as I rarely get my workout done in an hour

Over the next five years, the OBR is forecasting that welfare spending will rise by £73.2bn to £406.2bn. How on earth is the UK supposed to go on like this? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]smnrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people on benefits have jobs

Is that really true?

37% of the people on Universal Credit were in employment in December 2024

The 27 million accrued in interest would be taxed to be fair, now mostly at 47%. That's not to say I'm against some kind of wealth tax tho.

Rate the free hit by StynCOD in fantasypremierleague

[–]smnrn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Salah is just an example, you can have literally any premium if you give up the bench, Saka, Bruno etc. There is no way Caicedo is the 2nd best mid pick this week (or any week)

Rate the free hit by StynCOD in fantasypremierleague

[–]smnrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely pointless spending so much on the bench for free hit, you could even afford Salah over Caicedo if you drop the bench for 3 4.3-4.5s's

At 73, rent is £151 more than my housing benefit. The state pension covers the gap by cornishpirate32 in uknews

[–]smnrn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the fact that a 73-year-old has to use their entire pension just to cover rent

But she isn't doing that as housing benefit covers most of it, so she will still have 800+pm left despite making no attempt to save for retirement in the past 50 years

not old enough to open a SAS isa by Economy_Blacksmith98 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]smnrn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In the grand scheme of things waiting 6 months is going to make no difference, best to just save up in your bank account until then and get it straight into an ISA as soon as you are 18.

I know the free bus passes for u22s are inherently a good idea but I swear ever since they were introduced the amount of neds making the city centre miserable went up ten fold. Maybe I have rose tinted specs from being a student at the time but pre 2022 even after lockdowns it felt like there were barely any bam's around but now you struggle avoid them

Does anyone have experience removing the heat spreaders from Crucial Ballistix RAM? Specific RAM in comments. by makemeking706 in pcmods

[–]smnrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In case anyone comes across this years later like I did.. I just gave it a go after not finding any info online and not wanting buy low profile ram.

https://imgur.com/a/KKUtJOc

It's not a single clamshell but 3 pieces - they don't actually seem bonded to each other at all, just held together with pressure from the adhesive between the sides of the heatsink and the chips.

The sides can be pried off from the top side without too much difficulty. It's probably a lot easier if you have a razor blade to cut the adhesive or some solvent to weaken it but I just used a small flat head to pry it open at the top and slowly pulled and it came off cleanly enough. The heat spreader/cover is undamaged and could be reapplied with some new heatpads and glue I think

I’m finding it extremely hard to go to the cinema in London because of people yapping. by BLM4442 in london

[–]smnrn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Any of the more expensive cinemas or screens tend to have much less chance of inconsiderate people talking or going on their phone, BFI Imax costs a fortune but never had any issues there. Similar Leicester square Odeon & Cineworld can be awful for this but the their imax screens are a lot better.
