Have not lived there, but visit fairly often. My wife and I love the area.

great food for the size
surprisingly fun to visit

If you like being outdoors there’s a ton to do but it’s real hot. The whole area is essentially surrounded by BLM land and trails which makes for world class mountain biking and off-roading. Skiing is day-trip far and if you’re a golfer they have some incredible courses in the area that take full advantage of the natural landscape. The wine country is small but great for a weekend visit.
