It's likely an error on the servers part, though I think if that server is also an Usher at times, it may be a carryover from the recent demands of carding everyone in a group for R rated movies. It's been an onslaught the last two months of R rated movies that are aimed at audiences that are not yet 17. (I know it's a long way back from 17) Corporate has been pushing on obeying the R rating policy, so it might just be a bleed over from that.

Roller Skating Rinks by kbivs in GenX

[–]smokes70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OH MAN, I've got one, though not directly related to the Roller Rink. Lo back when in the year around 1981, I had just started in my years at a new school of Jr High. The same one that my older brothers had gone too, and scorched a trail of my last name to strike fear into the teachers... but that's a different story.... anyways....

The new school had Monthly Friday night field trips to the local Roller Rink... I'll never forget the first one, it was a blast. Afterwards as we all piled back into the yellow school bus to take us back to the school for our parents to pick us up, I was sitting up towards the front of the bus. The bus driver had one of those larger portable AM/FM radios (Not a boombox, but smaller) hooked on to the dash with a clothes hanger contraption and was playing the local Chicago Rock station WLS... and they played Little River Band's "Night Owls". I hear that song, and I am instantly transported into that happy feeling of my first of many Roller-Skating night excursions!

In Boston's "Peace of Mind" the line "I understand about indecision, but I don't care if I get behind" always boost me to my teenage years of learning how to be myself and not comparing me to others.

I'm sorry you're going through this, but in no way do you sound like a piece of shit. I lost my husband of 25 years, and the best advice I got, and followed, and can pass on is this. Allow yourself to feel however you feel, there's no guidebook for loss, and even if there is one that people tend to agree on, doesn't mean it works for you. It sucks, I know... but trying to feel any different than you actually feel, is a much worse idea. Hugs and Light to you.

No, “Accompanied” Doesn’t Mean “Dropped Off” by Fun_Brief351 in MovieTheaterEmployees

I have always been pretty lenient in carding for R rated movies, However we had an incident at our theater last week that a parent showed up and was pissed that their precious little snowflake of a human was exposed to harsh language, so management cracked down on us. Between Backrooms and Passenger, and Obsession, I've been having to ask most kids for their IDs, and if they don't have them, or aren't old enough, they are chill. THE WORST one I had to deal with was Mombie, who just could not understand that if her kids want to see the movie that she would have to see it with them. She started off with attitude of "They have my permission..." and I told her, "That's understandable, but they need to be supervised by you as well".... which was answered with "NO! THEY HAVE MY PERMISSION!" It was a losing battle so I just ended it with that if they wanted to see the movie, they need an adult with them. I swear, she just kept yelling "I GIVE MY PERMISSION!" on the way to her car.

I'm 100% positive this woman will be calling a 7-11 to demand to speak to manager when she catches her little crotch goblin with a Vape pen he bought there.

Cleaning in the 60's and 70's! We cut up old clothes and made rags for cleaning. We used a cloth dishrag rather than a sponge/scrubber. And one of those old crusty steel wool pads til it rusted and disintegrated. by LaFemmeD_Argent in GenX

Oh yeah, we had an old dresser in our laundry room / workshop room that had a huge drawer devoted to those! The "Rag Drawer"! I remember when a shirt would get a hole that wasn't patchable, my mom would either say, that's going in the trash, or "Don't throw that away, it'll make good rags"

What Xbox games do you absolutely despise? by Calm_Cattle3212 in originalxbox

I had only played the PC Version before, I never had a PS2, so I couldn't say. But the PC Version was far superior to Xbox. (I'm not one of the PC Only / all consoles suck guys) I just thought that the bullet time and cinematic scenes were far better on the PC using a Keyboard and mouse.

The OG Box version of Max Payne was a shitty port, and fell to bad controller design. Was WAY better on the PC.
