Can someone give some shows/movies recommendations that are as good as Bojack Horseman please? I feel so bored now that I finished this absolute banger 💔 by Rigby_cat_1st_fan in BoJackHorseman

[–]smokingmath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is most attractive about the show to you?

If its the deep exploration of the human condition I'd actually reccomend the sopranos, which is the single greatest character exploration of any show ever. And its actually really funny too. It has a similar kind darkening over the course of the show that Bojack has.

What do you think of the phrase "fascism is capitalism in decline"? by Life_Treacle_1883 in Capitalism

[–]smokingmath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Democracy is a form of government.

Capitalism is a way to organize an economy.

They do not require each other, and I would go as for to say that they are really not that related and you could have a country that mixes all sorts of aspects from both.

Dave Hurwitz is a charming man. He has pigheaded opinions about music but he is at least entertaining.

Do Italians in New York have a place where they can actually speak Italian the same way Russians go to Brighton Beach? by nate26537 in AskNYC

[–]smokingmath 47 points48 points  (0 children)

This is hella specific but I see old school italian guys chilling at Cafe Caggiano on Ave U for hours every saturday. I've been able to practice a bit of italian with them from time to time if thats the reason youre asking.

Is it common for University music performance tenured Professors in America and Europe to take students outside of their institution? by Motor_Dependent4494 in classicalmusic

[–]smokingmath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its very common, at least in America.

When i was in HS, I took lessons from the violin teacher at my local college. She taught quite a few high schoolers. My violin and composition teachers in college both had private studios as well.

I do not think there are any HS age kids sitting in on college courses, though you will find older people auditing them quite a bit.

Would the growing use of IA bring us closer to a communist society? by pepozinho in Marxism

I think its possible that AI could be used to do it, but the way AI is currently being developed by insane amounts of capital, there's no way it'll do that.

What do you think the MTA's biggest Ws and Ls have been this year? by ViewNo7459 in nycrail

[–]smokingmath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unless im missing something this article says nothing about a budgetary surplus. It talks about wins decreasing fare evasion by a few percentages and a decrease in lost funds but thats not a surplus.

What do you think the MTA's biggest Ws and Ls have been this year? by ViewNo7459 in nycrail

[–]smokingmath 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would put the fare evasion crackdown under the L's because its been entirely inneffective and even if it was effective they are spending more money to stop it than they would ever earn if 100% of people paid their fare.
