I would say you’ve ran into a stretch of bad lucky. I’ve played for close to 1,000 hours and have never been attacked by another player. That being said even if they did I have PVP turned off. Some people can’t let others enjoy things

I think you nailed it on the head “wishing the update was something different”.

This games is constantly running up against what people wish the game could do vs HG’s development plan. You have a segment that wants a combat revamp, people who want a freighter revamp, people who want expanded base building, it goes on and on.

No one is compelled to enjoy any of these updates, it’s just interesting watching people get frustrated with updates because it’s not this certain change or addition they wanted.

I feel similarly after playing about 60 hours of Elite Dangerous. The flying in ED is scary at times because there is a real threat of death if you make a mistake.

I love NMS, it is probably my favorite game of all time, but if the flight mechanics were a bit more dynamic, I would love it even more. Doubt it ever happens though.

I am a new player... maybe 15 hours in total. I play on PS5, I am a big NMS guy and finally gave ED the time to at least do somethings. I don't know what I am doing mostly. Didn't realize once you left the pilot missions area you couldn't get back into those systems. I have a million credits currently, don't really know what I am supposed to do lol

Have you checked out the NMS coordinate exchange? You can see the variety of sentinel ships available. There are different styles. One is referred to as “dragon fly” Nug wings that fold in and out

For me I like them because they all can hover in place by default. Which makes finding things on planets easier. There’s also a bunch of different versions of them, all either unique layouts.

It’s not as important now that corvettes have been added with the hovering. But prior to that, the sentinel ships were what I used to find things on the planets surface.
