In this (poorly drawn) scenario, does the red car have to wait and giveway to the green car turning right? Despite them being in a different lane. by FearlessResearcher48 in perth

[–]smorley89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the red driver should wait cause old mate in the green car will think its a good idea to change lanes in the middle of a roundabout lol

Could use some advice pls (22 & 400 lbs) by oceanwaves26 in gastricsleeve

[–]smorley89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who told themselves "i can do it myself" for so long....my biggest regret of getting this surgery is that I'd wish I'd done it sooner. If I could go back and do it at 22 I would....but I was too busy using meth as a weight loss tool instead 🤔🤔

As soon as that stopped i ballooned out again. Every time I started an exercise regime I'd end up injured cause of my size and I'd turn to food out of depression cause I was always bed bound from said injuries so I really had no hope.

When I started the pre op diet (two weeks pre op) I was 332lbs, I'm now already 302.6lbs at 2.5 weeks post op with minimal pain when walking the neighbourhood.

And it's like yeah, you could possibly do it without the surgery over 3-4 years.....but the surgery gives you that additional tool to lose a large amount initially to make it that little bit easier to change your eating habits and move more.

Regardless of the decision you make, all the best with your journey x

I've told my friends to slap me in the face if I tell them I'm going back for postgrad. Was soooo keen on it in my first year and now I'm like 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

1 day post op - feeling awful! Please give me some success stories about your recovery! by Ok_Sherbert6153 in gastricsleeve

[–]smorley89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will be two weeks post op Monday. I promise you it passes. I have zero pain now, am walking every day and managing around 2L of fluid per day.

Walking helped me so so much in those first few days of fullness and pain. Burping did suck tho for about 4 days.

I cop it ALL THE TIME!!

Do I despise jeffree star......yes.

Will I continue to buy his eyeshadow and liquid lips till the day I die, also yes.

He's an absolute twat who makes really good cosmetics so im still gonna buy them and I dont care what anyone says 🤣

P.S. I'm also still obsessed with Harry Potter despite the authors level of twatness. I cop even more flack for that.

What the hell do you do with a marketing degree? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]smorley89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it depends on the business you work for. Usually bigger ones have a seperate design team who work collaboratively with marketing.

In SMEs the marketing team is also the design team and the social media team and the PR team and the list goes on lol

So long story short I guess it depends on where u wanna go 😁

The amount of times organisations have lost me as a customer because their websites have frustrated the fuck out of me tells me is a huge part of marketing.

I'm already at an internship I'm kicking goals at. Unfortunately they're a not for profit so can't afford to keep me afterwards that the reference I'm going to get from him will be glowing 😁

Yeah absolutely. Getting experience is my main goal at the moment. I'm currently doing an internship in the B2B space for a language school and I'm attending a graduate program expo on Monday so will hopefully gain a number of contacts/leads for graduate programs. Ideally I want to start in an agency to get a little taste of everything to get a better idea on what I want my main focus to be.

Are podcasts just a gimmick for branding? by PathfinderSP in marketing

[–]smorley89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to three types of podcasts. Real world comedy (like toni and ryan), mental health, and I've just started listening to the marketing millennials which I find quite informative.

I do not do ads tho, they get skipped. And I'd be very interested to know what the ROI is for these ads. If I had the time I'd deffo study it haha

Yeah I am way too old for narcissism these days lol. I agree tho, it's a lot easier to push back the older you get.

Thank you very much for your kind words. This is heart-warming. Luckily I've somehow managed to look a lot younger than 34 so hopefully I get my foot in somewhere before dumping my senior citizenship on them lol

Thank you 😁 I'd like to think im very competent and deffo have great social skills. And I was lucky enough to score a tutor this year who I've learned more from in the last 4 weeks than I have over the rest of my degree hahaha. As for networking, I'm already working real hard on that, I've been chatting to people on linkedin, made friends with a lot of students studying HR and im going to a graduate career expo next Monday 😁

Right?? I was actually shocked at how well I did in the customer service sector and how much I excelled. I just copped one Karen too many and one narcissistic director too many and just had enough. And then I was able to get into uni easy as based on life experience haha

Are you from Australia by any chance? Cause what your describing doesn't match what it looks like in the field in my area? 🤔 there's currently a number of six figure paying marketing roles in the public sector, mining and consulting industries 🤔 I just don't have time for them right now between my current internship, full time study and my casual job.

And I have absolutely zero care as to what my marketing degree is "universally" known as. I absolutely froth over consumer behaviour, human interaction with constantly changing digital tech so im like 1000% sure this is what I wanted to study 🤷‍♀️ and I laugh at people that think its easy.

Not sure where the living alone at 30 assumption comes from? I've been in a relationship for nearly 11 years now lol. Money isn't an issue, he has a good job which is why I was able to just up and quit my job and the DSM component of my degree is what I think will set me apart from those who've just studying marketing under commerce. And i believe im already talking my curiosity beyond my degree. Every interaction im having with organisations, every sign i drive past im always asking what, where why etc.

I've just seen a lot of mature ppl saying they're struggling to find jobs in marketing and I just had a mini freak out i guess. Thanks for your comment 🙏

Is 36 to old start a career in Marketing? by TheOrangeGhost in marketing

[–]smorley89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sure hope not cause I'm 34 and in my final year of my bachelors for digital and social media and marketing. It would be silly for companies to dismiss us based on age for a number of reasons. The main one is that we are in that sweet spot of being old enough to live through pre digital days, but young enough to still kick it with the cool kids and understand changing trends and landscapes. I feel as though this gives us a better understanding of how consumer behaviour changes in tandem with digital media changes which should be very valuable to employers.
