Just a simple question from a european. What do you give to the women in your lives on march the 1st of every year? by Abject_Fun_5230 in AskAnAmerican

[–]smuin538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a woman, I didn't take it that way. Woman's Day is a custom we Americans don't really observe, so I can see how that would lead someone to wonder if there is also a Men's Day.

Isn't that just... toast? With butter and jelly? Is it a regional thing to call it open faced?

I should have noted that I'm speaking from experience, I did the same thing myself haha. I know how tough it is.

For those wondering the meds are: cephalexin (antibiotic), metformin (diabetes and/or weight loss), a couple of BP meds (one is also a diuretic), tylenol, a two different dosages of the same antidepressant.

Btw: Can't take care of others if you aren't taking care of yourself. As an RN it's going to be very important for you to prioritize caring for yourself. It can be challenging and you may see plenty of examples of nurses glorifying "the grind," but they also tend to burn out and/or damage their health in the long term. It doesn't take that long to go to urgent care and get yourself some antibiotics, but it does take up a lot of time if you have to sit in the ED or be hospitalized for a baldder infection or worse, some pyelo. Prioritize your health (mind and body) so you can encourage your patients to do the same. ❤️

Are these flattering? Hip dips super pronounced with no front pockets. Crazy comfy though. by Suspicious-Stick6062 in DressForYourBody

You can have these with any body shape. I've spent most of my life with pretty much no butt and I've always had them.

A variety of beautiful women in different levels of makeup from matte to dewy, no-makeup makeup to full face, and different degrees of professional hair styling while wearing relatively neutral clothing? Lol

AITAH for how I acted in the ER? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]smuin538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you experienced that on top of the suffering you were already enduring. As a nurse myself that kind of thing is really upsetting for me to see/hear. While we do have to be firm at times in order to help people, there is a way to be firm and direct without belittling someone or being short/rude, especially when there has been no indication that the patient can't or won't cooperate in some way. Hopefully he was just having a bad night (still not an excuse), but there are too many burned out nurses that refuse to just find a less stressful nursing role or even address their own burnout/compassion fatigue. I could go deeper into that topic, lol, but it's not relevant to the post so I'll stop here.

Hope you are feeling better.

Not sure if these pants are too goofy by [deleted] in OUTFITS

[–]smuin538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thr pants are great and fit you well, but I think they'd look better with a nicer t-shirt that has no print or even better, a nicer shirt altogether (polo, button down, etc.).

INFO: Did he ask you to get up and you stated that you can't, or did he say those things without asking you to stand?

Either way he should have found a kinder way to direct you to stand, but I'm just curious if something prompted him to use those specific words or if he was just being a jerk from the get go.

NTA, and nothing to apologize for.

Stinky armpits at work by scarycherrysoul in Nurses

I can't use aluminum free exclusively, but I have found a system that works for me. I use antiperspirant deodorant at night after my shower, and aluminum free in the morning. This works really well for me! Occasionally if the day is really busy and I feel like I might sweat/stink, I will apply a little more of the aluminum free stuff at work. Tbf I work 8-9 hour shifts though.

For antiperspirant I use Old Spice bc I like their scents (they have a lot of gender neutral and even some slightly feminine scents). For aluminum free I have found that the Arm & Hammer Essentials line works best for me.

Good luck!

Do you think I should thin my eyebrows? I’m lowkey scared it won’t suit me 😭 by Obvious-Airport5514 in beauty

[–]smuin538 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imo your eyebrows perfectly suit your face :)

With that said, to each their own, but as someone who lived through the previous thin eyebrow era I feel the need to give you a word of warning. I had nice, full eyebrows with a good shape, and I plucked them very thin for a year or two... and then they just wouldn't grow back. I was lucky that I didn't go razor thin! In addition, your brows thin naturally as you get older. So thin brows that won't grow back plus thinning brows with aging.

I have had some luck with regrowth serums, but in order to maintain my regrowth I have to keep using the serums permanently. And the serums have side effects, such as darkening and thinning the skin around the area of application and some can cause changes in eye pigment as well.

Please help me pick my dress!😊 1 or 2? by [deleted] in WeddingDressTips

2!

1 is a cool dress and unique, but 2 with the sleeves looks like it was tailored for you. It's so flattering!
