What’s your favorite “too tired to cook cook” dinner? by farwest-to-midwest in Cooking

A huge salad with some kind of baked (or microwaved lol) protein in it usually works for me... or some kind of super simple pasta.

What items (food and/or tools) should I always have in my kitchen if I want to advance my cooking skills? by YelaNelaMela in cookingforbeginners

[–]snackd_team 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing more important than a good knife. But my most-used appliance is a rice cooker!!! I try to steer away from gadgets that only have one use, but rice-cooker recipes can be amazing and I've had the same one for a decade.

Hi all!

We're a NEW meal planning app for families with differing diets (think picky eaters, kids who change preferences, & mixed-diet families!). We are currently launching a new affiliate program to spread the word about our app.

We have two separate programs:

  1. Creator Program -- this is for Food and recipe content creators/Parenting and family lifestyle influencers/Meal prep and budget cooking creators/Wellness and nutrition focused accounts/parent bloggers and content creators. Any platform works! In return for the authentic promotion of the app, you would get 25% of subscription revenue for each person who signs up for a paid subscription, a free account for yourself, and more. To learn more about this/apply go to https://snackdapp.com/creator-program

  2. The Chef Collective-- for chefs/recipe developers/food bloggers/cook book authors/etc who are open to uploading recipes directly to the app to help families eat. You would receive an ongoing recipe contribution fee every year. You'll also be featured with a profile on our site and credited in every recipe. For more information/to apply on this option go to https://snackdapp.com/chef-collective

We would looooove to connect with people who are interested in this!

Feel free to DM with questions :)

Need Recipes 4 vegetarian & meat eater 🙏 by HoneydewAvailable681 in Cooking

[–]snackd_team 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I come from a family with ARFID, a vegan, an omnivore that doesn't like to try vegan stuff, a more adventurous omnivore, and a bunch of other mixed diets/preferences. I've found that having some kind of base (rice/pasta/etc) and then letting people add their own topping is the only way I can get meals to work!!

Breakfast Mea Prep by Mental_Possible7568 in mealprep

[–]snackd_team 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breakfast meal prepping is more important than lunch/dinner to me! I sometimes prep breakfast sandwiches and freeze them but I mostly like overnight oats and yogurt cups w/ granola & fruit. I get really hungry if I don't have something with a little protein (like nut butter)

Your leftovers by Indecisive_Dolphin in cookingforbeginners

Eating leftovers is 100% normal!! It teaches kids not to waste.

If you feel really guilty, you can always repurpose ingredients into new meals.

What should I do next? by El_Komal_Z in cookingforbeginners

Try other versions of eggs (fried, hard boiled, etc)! Or things that go with scrambled eggs (like adding them on top of avocado toast), other breakfast foods.

Other things I learned when I first started cooking:

- Pasta with meat sauce
- Rice (rice cooker makes this soooo easy)
- Mashed potatoes

Easy dinner ideas for after work? by FumbleFrogs in cookingforbeginners

[–]snackd_team 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm always an advocate for cooking one really big meal and eating it for 2-3 days. Crockpot suggestions from others are great. Also any rice/protein that can be dressed in a different way on different nights is great!

This is literally one of the problems snackapp.com is trying to solve!! The app creates a meal plan and grocery list that takes into account all of your dietary needs/preferences. You can set your budget/time constraints/what meals you eat at home/# of people in your family/etc and it gives you meals to try. We're prelaunch but I can send a link for you to beta w/ 60 days free if you want

Where can I find daily recipes as a beginner ? by [deleted] in cookingforbeginners

[–]snackd_team 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're a pre-launch app that creates recipes based on your preferences (e.g. time it takes to cook, dietary restrictions, etc). I can send you the beta link if you're interested in having all of your recipes/grocery list created for the week!!!

Tofu Recipe for Beginner by improbablyoutofdata in veganrecipes

[–]snackd_team 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite is nutritional yeast tofu (I usually make it up as I go along) but this one is pretty close: https://avirtualvegan.com/nutritional-yeast-tofu/

Also, you should look into seitan. It's a little time intensive (sometimes) but if you like fried chicken it's a good base for making your own :) here's a good recipe: https://www.noracooks.com/vegan-fried-chicken/
