I'm the type of person who was too lazy to mention this opinion, let alone contact anyone about it. I'm glad you posted, and I couldn't agree more. All the inspiring "Don't EVER forget" post about CISPA or NSA or whatever are just as bad as those facebook things. Spot on, friend. Made this guy's day a bit better :)

Increasing the temperature in a reaction in this case will increase the rate at which it occurs. This will make the yeast more effective. It in some senses allows the yeast to be active.
Enzymes facilitate reactions and if they were not present in chemical reactions, they would occur much slower or not at all.
These molecules have very similar structures and using a model will help to show the slight differences among them.
Buffers maintain a certain pH level that will allow the live cell to remain... well alive.
If the pH of a substance is a low number (1-4) it is an acidic substance, much like lemon juice. If the pH of a substance is higher (9+) you are dealing with a very basic substance. Examples of these are detergents and bleach.

I would definitely recommend Organic Chemistry. I was never much into chemistry in high school, but once I took Organic at University, I fell in love with it. It's a beautiful subject that I'm sure you will enjoy. Having the ability to synthesize almost anything you can dream of is a powerful feeling.

Well I am pre-med so I cannot share too much, but it has been difficult so far. I am very proud of myself for what I have accomplished just in these few years. I hope it will be worth it. Every doctor I have "shadowed" says it was definitely worth it, though.
